First of all, I've searched for this topic before posting, but I can't find what I need.
I've "mastered" flying with the delta glider, from runway or hover launch to interplanetary travel, reentry and glide or hover landing (don't kill me, but I feel like its easier and more accurate but not so fuel efficient to make a looooooong hover landing on mars than a verrrry looooooooooong reentry
)
Now I want to get started with manually launching a staged rocket and accurate capsule reentry. I've got three main problems to do so:
The first problem is getting the right launch heading to intercept the ISS or other things in orbit. I'm going to try Launch MFD to see if it helps with that.
The second problem is the rocket itself. I've been using the SaturnV from AMSO and the default Atlantis Shuttle to practice (and I've been able to put them manually in orbit by just looking at the Orbit MFD, although I first needed to see how the autopilot launched them so I could do the same)
Both spacecraft are very bulky, and don't give much margin for error, so they're not really good for practice. The Minuteman missile is simple, but its very difficult to control and it has a very short range. I need a simple rocket with a good margin for error.
Also, some kind of "rocket kit" would be really nice. If I need to reach suborbital flight, I put only one stage. If I need to reach orbit, I put two stages. The higher I need to go, the more stages I put. And if I want to go to the moon, I put a big first stage like a SaturnV and then smaller stages.
The third problem is, how do I set a rocked in the scenario file to launch vertically from a pad? If I use the scenario editor, the rocket lays horizontally on its belly. And If i set the rocket above the ground with a pitch of 90 degrees vertically, it falls before I can even push the throttle.
Thank you a lot
