OHM Negi-1 satellite launch vehicle v0.1

Okay, I have had no luck. But thanks for your help PhantomCruiser!

Installing Stage.dll and Spacecraft3.dll was fine. I installed* them on Orbiter 2010. When it came to installing* Multistage2, however, I was told there was ANOTHER Stage.dll in the Module folder. At this point, I looked and saw that the older Stage.dll was 44.0 KB while the newer one was 56.0 KB. So I kept both Stage.dll(s).

It failed. My Orbiter.log said…

Finished initialising world
>>> ERROR: No vessel class configuration file found for:
---------------------------------------------------------------
>>> ERROR: Spacecraft\Spacecraft3
>>> [Vessel::OpenConfigFile | .\Vessel.cpp | 252]
---------------------------------------------------------------
>>> TERMINATING <<<

At this point, I’m going to ask if someone can give me a more detailed “explanation” on how to do this. I would greatly appreciate it…

* ‘installing’ meaning I extracted the .zip directly into the Modules folder (My Computer/Documents/Orbiter2010/Modules, for example) in the Orbiter 2010 directory, as I used the .zip version of Orbiter.

The 56 kb stage.dll is the one you need, the old one is no longer req'd.

That being said, I just ran this myself. The launch went fine and staged as it should, but when it came time to jettison the little satellite it's mesh was invisible. No CTD, nor did it spin off into deep space (which happens to me often when I''m working on my own projects when I forget some key things).

I thing we are both missing something really obvious.

Regarding SC3, do other Spacecraft 3 vessels work? Vinka's DeltaGlider demo for instance?

I'd scrolled in both directions, I didn't see the distance counter change either way. Then my wife called for me to dinner (gotta do what the boss-lady says).

Wait, you're running the scenario? My Orbiter doesn't even let me START the simulation.

It goes to the loading screen and just exits itself.

It gives me this afterwards...

...I would like to note that it did this even after deleting the 44kB, so I still think it might be that I install them improperly.

At this point, all I have to say is that if I can't properly install 3 patches, I'm nowhere close to making a add-on of my own. I'm a NOOOBBB!!!

On a serious note, if it's still possible to give me some instructions on how to properly install the three patches, I would appreciate it.

Thanks, by the way, for the support so far.:)

Oh, I didn't realize! You're DaniRevan!
(If you didn't know, he has his own fictional space agency, and models rockets and spacecraft in SketchUp)

:welcome: to Orbiter-Forum! Don't worry, I was also a noob when I first started.

Okay, so if you installed the plug-ins incorrectly, then follow these instructions (with a new installation of Orbiter):

1. Download "spacecraft3 full package (dll + examples) 060302 for Orbiter build 050216" and "base package (multistage2 + spacecraft2) 050721 for Orbiter build 050216" from http://users.swing.be/vinka/

2. Extract them to your main Orbiter folder (where Orbiter.exe is located)

3. Download "Spacecraft3 patch" and "Stage patch"

4. Extract them to the Modules folder. Make sure that the new files replace the old ones. Don't keep both.

5. Download this add-on and extract it to your main Orbiter folder.

Hopefully this is encouraging...

Negi-1 in flight...

HATSUNE in orbit. Only problem I noticed was that the antenna didn't deploy. I'm assuming there was some key I had to press for it.

Incredible add-on, regardless.

Thanks. K is the key for antenna deployment.

Hey dude, I don't what I was doing yesterday but I gave it another go tonight before work.

I launched and then went away for a few moments, when I got back in the chair the satellite was in LEO like it should (wasn't invisible this time). Could have just been a fluke the first time maybe.

The rocket reminded me of a Taurus (2110 maybe) only with the added fins on the 1st stage. Nice job.

Anyway, @ ISProgram, glad you got her working!

I'm not ready for that. People should stop assuming that everyone knows the arcane language of C++. I don't even know where/how to start.

You make it sound so simple, it's actually condescending.

I think that you should stop thinking like that. If you have that state of mind, it won't work indeed. If you are open to it, you can do it.

C++ is no rocket science. In fact, I made my own webbrowser and calculator when I was 12/13. It's just a matter of following some tutorials. There are some great tutorials on the forum which you can follow. You can also try Google. You might not find tutorials on how to code a rocket, but you can follow other tutorials as well, and then link it to stuff you want to have done in your Orbiter.

3 days ago I hadn't used PowerShell ever before. Now, I´ve created a script which installs my Active Directory AND Exchange from one Excel sheet.

In my opinion, it´s a matter of just doing it, without thinking `Oh man, this is going to be hard, I can´t do this`. If others can do it, why can´t you?

Bumping this thread since my virtual space agency (Orbital Access Consortium, OAC) has received some requests from customers that want a very cheap, easy to operate dedicated launcher for some of their cubesats that are hard to hitchhike on. After shopping for options (including exotic ones like air-launch solutions like the B-58 launched Project Townhall and the F4D launched NOTSNIK) it was decided that the Negi-1 provides the best solution.

Therefore I would like to ask for making a new version of the Negi-1 with a 4th stage capable of jettisoning payloads (the current one has the 4th stage as part of the payload). Maybe the new Negi-1 can also have a new paint job like your company's other rockets do and also launch from Negishima (putting the launch structure on its VTOL pad is good enough since this rocket is supposed to be simple to operate). ;)

Thanks for your attention! :tiphat:

Triton 1 is way too much; it has a capacity of 5000 kg to LEO while a cubesat only has a mass of about 1 kg.

@Galactic Penguin SST: I am sorry, but I'll do that after I am done with another major HASDA project, which will start very soon.

Well... You could reduce the dry mass of the Negi-1's 4th stage/HATSUNE payload, and put the CubeSats on top of that. (It uses Velcro Rockets, so it shouldn't be to hard)

Actually, it uses Multistage2, but I might change it to Velcro because it has an autopilot that doesn't require a guidance configuration file.

Still, you can just change the Multistage2 file for HATSUNE, and it will probably work.
