Problem None of my MFDs will target vessels, bodies or bases.

I installed Orbiter just yesterday as as far as I can tell everything else is the sim works fine. I can switch to any MFD but when an MDF can be (or requires being) targeted I am unable to input targets. A target dialogue box appears listing subcategories of targets (spaceports, spacecraft, moons) but all of the options are greyed out. There is also the text '[no orbit] [no base]'.

I am experiencing this from orbit, having launched from a base. Some scenarios begin with targets already dialed into an MDF, however I am unable to change targets, there are none listed. In scenarios where the mission is to dock or rendezvous, there are no targets listed.

I am also unable to manually enter targets in the 'by name...' field. The target dialogue disappears if I select it with my mouse.

One MDF can successfully target bases. This is the Reentry MDF mod. It does not use the target selection dialogue, just a button to scroll all the earth bases.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did you try selecting the target menu and sub-menu entries with arrow keys (i.e. standard arrows on the keyboard - up, down to select the item, right, left to enter to sub-menu and back to the parent menu), and then choose the menu item with enter?

Try mousing over the dialog box WITHOUT clicking the mouse, and then just type. There's a setting somewhere in the sim options (after running Orbiter.exe, before launching the sim) to the effect of focus follows mouse.

Otherwise - run it in window mode, and take a screen clip of what you are looking at, so we can see.

The select target menu doesn't use dialog boxes that can gain or lose focus when mouse is moved. They are a part of the render window, and not a separate dialog box (nor a Windows pop-up menu). These menus use keyboard input for navigation through them. Clicking with mouse will simply close them without selecting the target.

You can for example view such menu when you click on TGT button on a MFD allowing selecting target, e.g. MapMFD, OrbitMFD.

Thanks Orb. Most of the other UI controls are mouse or keyboard so I just assumed I should be able to select targets from the menu using the mouse. A mouse click deselects the menu. Arrow keys work fine. It was a misunderstanding on my part.
