Launch News North Korea comes again for third attempt to send satellite into space in April

True but the problem is that they maybe using their spacecraft againt us. They are not part of the treaty.

Actions such as this would fall under the categories of 'poor foreign relations' and 'bad precedents to set.'

Couldn't we just blow up their satellites. We are hostile towards the NK.

Shoot first, ask questions later. Questions like:
- Where does the debris go? Will it threaten any other satellites or manned spacecraft like the ISS?
- How will North Korea, China, iran and the rest of the world respond?
- How many treaties we're violating by destroying an object in space?

From a non-American point of view I would say the NROL-toys launched by the US government are much more dangerous than a 50 kg-brick launched by an isolated state that is unable to feed it's people.

A satellite launcher is generally is not very good as a missile...
It can serve to develop the rocket engine technology and reliability but not much more.
For NK it would be better to use submarines for any kind of attack...

As for interception of rocket, it's the first time that I read about nations claiming "airspace" extending into space...

Just to remind people that the Shuttle launched in a trajectory that took it directly over Europe (transatlantic abort).

Nothing will happen because of the precedent it would open. At the very least China would require satellites to pay tax for overflying...

Exactly, and the rate of fire of those 5 tons+ toys is rather impressive those last months... In fact those NROL things have become the only Delta rockets family activity. :shifty:

Well even though im a nationalist pro-war lunatic i can disagree that they arent using weapons to directly destroy our satellites and space infrastructure.

That is something we asked when they[North Korea] shelled yingyang island. Something which was against the ceasefire agreement stated at the end of 1953.:shifty:

I'm confused. Is the targeted orbit an sun-synchronous orbit (i=98°) or a polar orbit (i=90°)? In all the animations it looks like an i=90°-orbit, while a lot of sources speak of a sun-synchronous orbit.

I think it could go either way. Depends on how accurate the guidance system is!

Rocket is confirmed launched !!!
CNN reporting; no further details about trajectory yet
