Hi Folks,

I'm a complete noob, only purchased the game yesterday, so be gentle

Yesterday i was watching the replay tutorial of space shuttle to ISS in orbiter.
Got all the most important info and i tried it for myself.

The first times went amazing! Got into orbit quite easily, only getting to ISS was a bit of a struggle, but guess that's normal the first time you play this game.

Okay, here's my problem. Today i installed a couple of add-ons: earth texture rendering level 10 and ISS. I felt like doing my own mission with space shuttle to ISS. I do exactly the same things as i did yesterday, but now everytime, just after the fuel tank disconnects and the auto-pilot program comes to an end, my left nose RCS turns on automatically which makes me spin and tumble towards earth. Even tried setting RCS to off but doesn't work, it just pops on.

Probably I AM doing something horribly wrong (what i didn't do yesterday?) or is it some kinda bug anyone knows about?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forums! :welcome: When you said you purchased Orbiter, did you actually pay? It's illegal to sell it.

On topic: I have a hunch it's some kind of autopilot firing the RCS.
Do you have any of the default autopilots running? (prograde, retrograde, horizon level, ect.) Also, what modules did you have enabled?

BTW, you're progressing extremely fast; after a year and a half of playing I haven't gotten the shuttle to orbit

Purchased? The game is free so if you have bought it from somewhere there is a chance that you might have been defrauded.

starla, aside of the purchased that makes me feel uneasy as well, did you make sure you have your joystick calibrated, disconnected, or else? And did you use any time acceleration during the separation?

The forward RCS must be active for translations and is in the real Shuttle enabled at launch (It was also used for keeping the windshield clean of booster separation motor dust) and later disabled. The default shuttle has the forward RCS active all the time, most add-ons I know permit controlling the forward RCS.

first, yes, this is a free game/sim. please let someone know where you "purchased" it from so we can prevent them selling any more illegal copies of the game

secondly, there could be a number of issues, most likely your computer, if you were pressing a key as orbiter booted it MAY cause it to continuously send that function to the simulator (not too sure, but its a possibility)

also, if you had a joystick plugged in, then offsetting the joystick before it is plugged in (say, plugging it in whilst it is offset to roll-left) then this wil become the centred position as it calibrates, so returning it to centered will tell the computer that it is actually offset.

there isnt much chance that its the simulator, since it has run stably for most of us for a long time (unless you did actualy purchased the game, and it had been tinkered with)

let us know exactly what you do, and we'll be happy to point out any mistake you may have made

and btw :welcome: to orbiter! may the probe guide all your efforts

Did you launch the shuttle with the included Lua autopilot? Whenever I use that it locks the RCS open at the end of the program causing the shuttle to spin wildly out of control. Try exiting and reloading the scenario as soon as the main engines cut off.

Thanks for the replies people. Sorry, purchased was not so well chosen  English is not my native language. I downloaded orbiter.

Yeah, I launched it with Lua autopilot. You seem to have exactly the same problem.
How do I exit the scenario en reload it without starting the scenario all over?

Choose the scenario "(Current state)" when Orbiter restarts. :)

The 'launch.lua' script is not perfect. The RCS might not get shut down after the OMS Burns. This is a known issue (is it?)

You can use the attached LUA-Script instead. (just replace the original script that is located at ".\Script\Atlantis\". You might want to backup the original first  )
