Hardware Odd landed jitter problem

I have a Logitech Cordless Rumblepad installed as my joystick. When landed I have noticed for a long time that when I operate any of the joystick controls my ship (DG, XR2 etc) exhibits a strange vibration or jitter mainly in the Y axis. It is as if the ship is bouncing up and down rapidly on its undercarriage. I see an acceleration of about +/- 0.5g.

It only starts when I operate the stick and stops as soon as the ship leaves the ground. I have tried disabling the joystick at the Orbiter launchpad but this makes no difference (other than that the stick controls no longer work!)

Anyone else seen this? Any solutions?
