Dear folks,

I'm entirely a newb when it comes to Orbiter. Has anyone developed any simulations or add-ons which model continuous boost propulsion systems like ion?

Tried searching the fora and didn't get any hits, but that could just be my inept searching.

Thanks!

There is this [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3815"]IEAT MFD[/ame]

The Dawn spacecraft uses an ion engine and is [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4898"]downloadable[/ame]. There is also a ion probe featured in the [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=789"]Chapman Probe pack[/ame].

But you have to be warned, it is very boring to simulate as the burns take years to perform and the changes in the orbit are minimal. It is only suitable to minor bodies as asteroids

For something larger, there is also this manned VASIMR concept:

I am new at orbiter too. I am using orbiter 2006 for a science fair project and have downloaded the manned VASIMR concept aforementioned. However, the scenario has the spacecraft docked. Is there a way to undock, and if so how is it done?

Thank You

Please read the manual as all the key commands are listed in it.

To undock use CTRL-D.
