Software orbiter blinks white when in game

when in orbiter the game randomly blinks white. im running windows vista. i have tried reinstalling orbiter but have had no success eliminating the problem

a few details would help, for example:

What version of orbiter?

What scenario?

Does it happen with all scenarios?

Does it happen with a clean installation?

What video card do you have and how much RAM does it have?

Are you running orbiter full screen or windowed?

Here's what works for me under Windows 7 (and Vista before that):

1. Close the Sidebar.
2. Close any other windows that may update the screen while you're flying (e.g., Task Manager).
3. Now try Orbiter again. If it still flashes, reboot, do steps 1 and 2, and try Orbiter one more time.

I disabled visual themes and desktop compositing and the flashing stopped in Win7 - they can be accessed from the Orbiter.exe properties

I'm running Vista, and it happens to me all the time. I guess it's just something we have to live with.

I also have it with Win 7 x64 but not very often. My solution is to press F4 to open the menu. It's not the biggest problem with Orbiter after installing Win 7, the biggest for me is that Anti-aliasing causes the HUD and markers to disappear.

It is most probably caused by background process(es). I think there a post recently on the same topic. Try to avoid background processes, for example by reducing the number of startup items.

There is a program called "EndItAll" which can end or kill nearly all processes. You could try that (just google it).

This is what I do. I have two monitors, and can just move the menu off to the second one.
