I'm running into a problem. I'm trying to run a "persistant world" kind of game. I ran into a problem that when I exit from the sim back to the launch screen, Orbiter crashes and it gives me the "Orbiter has crashed and needs to be shut down" window.
After eliminating all modules and addons (I stripped Orbiter down to just OrbiterSound, UCGO, and DeltaGliderIV) and a lot of testing, I've discovered that having the DeltaGlider IV attatched to the Arrow Freighter seems to cause the problem. My scenario will load up and run fine, but when I go to close it, Orbiter crashes. This makes it really hard to run my persistant world as I can't save the scenario.

Do any of you have an idea I can try to remedy this ?
I'm using Orbiter 2010

(edit)
I reproduced this on my laptop. To reproduce it, go into the UCGO scenario folder and then into the mission one and load the Arrow Freighter to Jupiter mission. Use the scenario creator to add a deltaglider4. Raise the gear and open the docking port and then either manually or use the scenario editor to dock it inside the belly of the Arrow Freighter. Then exit the sim. The first couple of times, it will work properly, but then, it will crash on exit and from that point on, it will always crash on exit unless you delete the delta glider 4. Then it will close fine again.

Just to add. The crash does not happen when a regular DeltaGlider is docked. It appears so far to only be occurring with the DeltaGlider IV docked. I'm going to test it with some other ships tonight and see if the problem is just limited to the DeltaGlider IV.

I would also like to add that I have a deltaglider4 attached to my orbiting space station, and I am also getting a crash on exit.

I used the space station building blocks 4.1 to make the station.

After further testing, it appears that the crash on exit does not affect the scenario. I can re-start Orbiter and run "Current State" and it picks up where it left off. It APPEARS that it's just a crash for going back to the menu.

I have no clue as to what this would have to do with a DeltaGlider IV being docked during exit, but so far, I havn't had the problem with the ship not docked or using another ship, docked.

Are you docking the DG to the Arrow while the arrow is on the ground?
Orbiter doesn't like that

Nope. I dock them in space. On principle, I never land the Arrow Freighter. I use it as an orbital mother ship because I think it's cooler that way. :)

This issue may not be related to the Arrow as squeaky024 is experiencing the same crash on exit when he has a DeltaGlider4 docked to a space station.

I'm beginning to think that this is either something to do with either the DeltaGlider4, or some kind of stock bug. So far, I havn't been able to reproduce it with anything other than the DeltaGlider IV.
It doesn't appear to be the MAJOR issue I thought it was though as it SEEMS to save the "Current State" absolutely fine from what I've seen so far in my testing.

Try changing Orbiter's shutdown options, in the "Extra" page of Launchpad. It's under "Debugging options". By default it's set to respawn the process. Change it to something else and see if you still get a crash on exit.

It appears that mine is set to "De-allocate memory and display launchpad dialog"
I set it to "Respawn the process" and it seems to have cleared up the problem so far.

I keep mine on that because... wait, Are you using OGLA? OGLA is INCOMPATIBLE with the default shutdown method.

I was using the standard Orbiter2010 installation and I am experiencing the exact same issue except docked to a space station. My delta glider 4 has been there for quite a while for the purpose of maintaining the attitude of the station so the panels can get as much light as possible. When I shut down Orbiter I get a crash but I am able to resume from where I left off like Blacklight said. This is not a major issue but it is an inconvenience if we are just trying to load up a diferent scenario.

Edit: I would also like to add that I also have an Arrow Freighter in LEO from a previous interplanetary trip but nothing is docked to it. I will try to remove the freighter from the scenario file temporarly and I will post the results. This might just be a compatability issue with the Arrow and DGIV togeather in the same scenario.

Edit edit: Setting shutdown options like blacklight did in the next post worked for my problem too.
