when i was installing orbiter, it says i must have visual C++ 2005 runtime library but it's already installed

i also cancelled it before it was done, something is still running, but what?
so i can not do something

help me please

Are you using the Windows installer or the .zip file? If you're using the installer, I can't help, I've never used it. If you're using the .zip file, go to the Install folder within the Orbiter main folder and start the C++ 2005 Runtime Library from there. Hope this helps!

now i cant start it up
something is still running

I don't understand this statement. What is still running? Orbiter process after you closed it?

i closed the installation before it was done
orbiter proccess is still running (i think)

Ctrl+alt+del -> Task manager

have a look for the orbiter process and kill it or just reboot.

what's the name of the orbiter proccess? i cant find it, but its still running

Step-by-step tutorial:

1. Press Ctrl-Alt-Del.

2. Click on "Processes" in the up of the window. (Grammar, anyone?)

3. You will see a long list of programs currently running. Search for orbiter.exe. Click it and press End Process.

4. If there's no orbiter.exe, then close the window - Orbiter isn't running in the background.

Hope this helps!

huh, ther is no proccess running?!

i still cant start up orbiter

You need to test a few things first:

1. have you rebooted?

2. have you actually got orbiter installed? You won't be able to run it if it's missing files. From the sounds of things you should try unzipping orbiter from the zip file.

If you are still having problems it will be helpful to know EXACTLY what you are seeing when you double click on orbiter.exe

I think this solves that step:
i closed the installation before it was done
If that's the thing which had been closed before Orbiter was run, reinstall or extracting files from the ZIP archive is needed again.

But I'm guessing that Orbiter Installation Verification tool got locked during one of the tests, and that's what's been closed. Am I right, or is this the former?

i already re-installed it for 3 times and it still does not work

What exactly does not work?

Did you read this post? If so, please answer me whether it's the Installation Verification that isn't finishing its tests.

Also, please read this article.

i closed the installation verification before it was done, i re-installed orbiter and if i do the installation verification again, nothing happens

Now, there's something more we know.

If Installation Verification doesn't want to finish, you can override it by deleting "orbiter.exe" file from the Orbiter folder, copying "orbiter.bin" file from "Install" subdirectory of Orbiter to Orbiter's root folder, and then by renaming "orbiter.bin" to "orbiter.exe". Since then, executing "orbiter.exe" will run Orbiter Launchpad instead of Orbiter Installation Verification.

You may need to change folder view options to show file extensions in Windows explorer first.

how do i do that?

Please do the following steps (may look different in your Windows):
  1. Open "My Computer",
  2. Click on Tools in the menu, and then Folder Options...:
  3. Enter into View tab and uncheck on Advanced settings "Hide extensions for known file types" checkbox:
  4. Click OK,
  5. Now you can change the extension of .bin file to .exe without problems.

i changed .BIN to .exe but now it says a error...
