Orbiter kill 1.0
This app allow you to kill still running Orbiter process in background, which causes error: Another Orbiter application is arleady running.
No more terminating bu CTRL+ALT+DELETE!

Warning! Application needs NET.Framework 4.

No offense, but I think this is quite pointless. The only situation I can think of where I would need to kill Orbiter is when it CTDs. In that case... well you know the white screen. This application would be completely inaccessible.

Just my two cents ;)

this actually makes sense... there were times where orbiter "appeared" closed, but it really wasnt... then i had trouble firing it up again....

but those times are few and far from eachother... i don't think violence is necessary just yet

Sometimes Orbiter closes improperly. You may think that it's not running but it is. Sometimes it "eats" even ~700 MB of RAM! I've made this app for easier terminating(killing:)) orbiter process(not by ctrl alt del, it makes me angry:@) You just double-click on app and done.

Rtyh-12 if You have a white screen then just press ctrl+alt+del:shifty: or try pressing ALT+TAB

I think I can make an app which runs in background and you just need to press a key to kill it, but now I'm developing add-on installer.

I only ever had this message when I still had the launchpad open somewhere... But if it happens for some people, I guess the app makes sense. I could use such a thing to kill Firefox

It sometimes happen to mee too when exiting Orbiter it does not close properly and I have to open Task Manager to close it manually.:compbash:

It is actually pointless to require .NET 4.0 to accomplish something that needs ONLY Windows API. FYI, I use FAR to manage my processes and services (cygwin is an option, too).

Yes, but I can't make non-net framework apps.

I'm not hesistating to use TaskManager when I need to kill good ol' Orbiter.

There are some rare cases of white screen which can be cured by reset button only.

Or pressing ctrl+ESC
Or mine way: minimalized taskmanager icon in tray, just open and shutdown Orbiter process.

Task manager should get us out of any CTD scenario. If it doesn't for some reason then a reboot would be the best choice.

I've killed orbiter after running current scenario and having something go wrong but not wanting to recreate the scenario because, of course, current scenario will get over written if I save.

So, I just use PSKILL

And PSKILL has the advantage of being usable in more situations than this tool.

or do it the ol' fashioned way with a big hammer :D

Tsk tsk. There's only one civilized way to kill a program.

Hmmm, this will come useful when used with the Orbiter Console another member wrote. There's a bug in that code that makes Orbiter crash every time you close it and the orbiter process keeps running for a while - really annoying when you're trying to compile a DLL or run another test...

how should I make a new thread?!

Hi, I'm new here
How should I make a thread?
