"Orbiter" made local Fox 21 TV news.

They never mention orbiter

Which other space simulator do you know that shows a deltaglider docked to the ISS ?
Obviously the software used for this Simpit would be discussed among the people that show interest in it.

Is he a member ?

Don't really know; I'm going to try and find out though !
I only live about 30 miles from Colorado Springs.

Pretty neat though that the USAFA has shown interest !

What the heck? If they don't mention Orbiter, it REALLY bugs me... and I'd imagine it might bug Martin too. (not trying to speak for him) Not to mention that plenty of people have built sim pits for Orbiter...

The story makes it sound like he takes all the credit too...

EDIT: Never mind, one mention of Orbiter but it's not clear what it means or that it's the NAME of the program...
In any case, could easily be the media's fault, not so much the kid.

Wow, apparently there's a lot of people who share his name. But i'm quite sure I found the right one too.

Just look at the pictures of the simulator. Most definitely Orbiter.

He says specifically says; "I designed a space flight simulator for my ??????air patrol squadron"

That implies he programmed the simulator as well. And I never heard 'Orbiter' in that news clip by Yoda.

"Ethan Hahn is getting a lot of attention for something he created.
Hahn built a space flight simulator by himself."

That sums it up right there.

I wonder, was he good enough to hide the intro screen so no one could tell the difference. (exept for previous users)

I just send the reporting journalist on Fox 21 an e-mail trying to set the record straight and give credit were credit is due !
I also referred him to Dr.Schweigerts website as well as this forum-link.

Pilot program, hmm?

Okay, if it is the media's omission and at least "back stage" he gave due credit, good luck to him and may his dreams come true. I suppose he did make the 'pit, after all. But it is nothing without the core program.

Otherwise, I will wish him and his aspirations fall flat and squarely on their backside. I really love people who employ deceit to further their own little ambitions by leeching off others' work and dedication. Okay, it happens, but that does NOT make it right. His silence or willingness to engage with other Orbinauts will speak volumes of his motives...

I wouldn't automatically assume that he's trying to take full credit here--the media had to cram everything into a two-minute segment, and there's not much room to explain that he built the hardware, but the software is free, etc, etc, etc. Let's not burn him at the stake before he even shows up.

It seems to me like he could be a valuable member of the community, if he'd be willing to share what he's done with the rest of us.

He says he built it to show his academy friends that they can do spaceflight too. What a bad reporting not to mention that ANYONE can do it with this free program!

I wonder for what he needs five computers. Orbiter isn't using any MP API, so it will be the definite bottleneck. Even if he would have a pneumatic motion simulator and a separate flight evaluation, he would just end with three computers, four if he needs a special computer for driving displays...

dude, the reporter for the local news got my band and the band we we're gigging with as like a group, at an outdoor festival, he got both the bands names wrong AFTER I WROTE THEM DOWN FOR HIM.

still, this is bogus, real bogus. I hate the press.

Good luck. I tried sending a message to a journalist about a local article once... nothing happened, not even a reply, ever. :P

Yep... I hear the same thing from other people that allow an interview with news stations like FOX. My english teacher from last year absolutely despises the media, and i think she may have only appeared on TV once and for a simple quick interview about a recent fatal accident. Don't ever expect what you tell the media to get to the public without a lot of distortion.
