Orbiter Multiplayer beta tester!

A call for Pilots and Actors

Dear Fellow Orbinauts

- A call for Pilots and Actors -

On October 9th Face released the new Orbiter Multiplayer Client v0.8.
Unfortunately only a few pilots have been testing it over the last two week. For the coming up Client Test Missions we still need pilots and also some actors for my new OMP movie. See Mission command for details and join in on October 25th or November 1th.

Required & recommended add-ons for this client test mission:

  • ORBITER 2010-P1 v100830 - required
  • OrbiterSound v4.0 - recommended
  • Deltaglider-XR1 v1.11a - recommended
  • XR2 Ravenstar v1.6a - recommended
  • XR5 Vanguard v1.9a - recommended
  • UCGO (incl. Ummu) v3.0 - recommended
  • OMP v0.8 – required
Feel free to send me a PM if you have any questions or post your comment here.

Ohhh dangit. I lurked here twice a year and see this. Count me in but it has been too long i took of ground :)

it has been my experience that due to the non rotating earth in OMP this sometimes throws off certain MFD's. Exactly which ones I can't be sure. But I do know Aerobrake and basesync work great.
So I guess that with the latest OMP more MFDs became at least "testable"?
Is the newest TransX somewhat "approved", since it is included in default OMP?

The latest release removed the need for a non-rotating earth due to the 300m/s "standing still" velocity on Wideawake. Therefore, every MFD that had hickups due to a non-rotating earth should now work as usual.

I don't think we have a formal approval procedure, anyway. Just go ahead and try it .

The primary target of mission 23:
Confirm you can connect with new OMP client v0.8 and your visible to other pilots, while flying around near Wideawake and maybe join a coordinated formation flight.
New orders will be announced through OMP-chat (inline) or TS.

Advanced pilots can try a ISS resupply mission.

Note: Interesting scenes will be captured for a new OMP movie.

If you like to host more than one vessel (e.g. some stations), you can also help to test the bleeding edge version of the client. I'm trying out some things regarding jitter and docking stability there and would be interested in feedback.

Just download the replacement DLL for /modules/plugin/OMPClient.dll here.

Sorry for spending my time on Windows 10 issues and not helping with OMP testing on Saturday.

I have been testing transfers with \offer - \accept with a local server. When I transfer from a client with only one object, the offering client disconnects. If I first set up tracking and observer, the offering client does not disconnect and the object disappears. I suspect this is expected behavior.

Yes it is. Orbiter closes the simulation if no more vessel is present. You could also create a ignored vessel (depends on server setup) that isn't part of the session as safe fallback. For example, on Ren's server most locations come with ORL scenario elements (start, finish, pylons), which are ignored vessels.

For the test session this sunday, I have prepared a replacement for the OMPClient.dll here, which fixes the jumping velocity vector with on-orbit situations and also gets rid of the %jump duplication.

Sorry, Vlad, no fix for your situation yet.
