Did Your Orbiter Support The Xbox 360 For A Next Version?
This Is Real Question.

What would having orbiter an the xbox provide that it does not provide on a PC?

I believe that the developer licences for the Xbox are rather extortionate.

I think he meant using the Xbox 360 controller for Orbiter:

Orbiter Support The Xbox360 Controller

it should work, you just need to set it up as a joystick. unfortunatley, i have no idea how to do so, but the microsoft support may be able to help you

Plug it into a USB port, and the drivers install themselves. :P

Setting it up as a joystick is easy, i'm pretty sure looking it up on youtube can help...

I did the same thing with my PS3 controller, and fly with it sometimes. It's a lot better because it's smoother than the numpad during final landing.

Is it possible to assign the rotational and translational controls separately to an axis on the controller?

Not at the same time, only if you switch between the two.

For example, if i fly the DGIV to orbit with the Control Surfaces & the Rotation mode of the RCS, my controller controls it in THAT mode.

If i switch to Translation mode (normally it's numpad /) then my controller only pilots the ship in Translation mode. I switch back to Rotation mode, then i pilot the ship only in Rotation mode.

No, i use the default orbiter joystick scheme, and map all of the buttons with Joy2Key

Here's my Layout:

I have to use the top buttons for fwd and back Linear RCS, because Orbiter was acting weird and wont let use the RCS on my the right stick...
