This is a place to post all those cool things that you would like to see in a future release of orbiter. No, I'm not asking for any of these things to become a reality, just kind of fanticising :)

Permanent orulex style terrain with standardized hightmaps at least for the moon and mars, and UMMU/UCGO compatable :)

More rockets (more than just the shuttle)

(don't worry, I will think of more :) )

The base version of orbiter has the DG, DG-S, shuttle-A and shuttle-PB as well as Atlantis.

If people want more then they have (at the time of writing) 237 they can choose from on OH.

All I wish is for my addon ideas to make themselves. :P

Same for the meshes that I need. I love solving problems in code, but making meshes is beyond my talent.

Why not make meshes in code?
You can make nice-ish ones quite easy.

Actually terrain would be pretty nice. It would make my Earth flights where I pretend my Ravenstar is a Cessna much more interesting.

I consider it pretty often, I especially thought about making a special CAD tool for designing virtual cockpits. But then, it is not the same as something done by a professional.

For example, I can't really imagine a simple way to define in code, how a LUF 60 looks like.

why not try BRL-CAD?

Never heard of it before and its homepage is down at the moment but what I can see on Sourceforge looks great. Will try it this evening.

The homepage is likely just hosted too close to Spamhaus at the moment... some dutch cybercriminal hoster is currently DDOSing Spamhaus and admits to be responsible.

Object Collisions....

Can't stress that enough. Realistic physics means collisions. :hello:
I'm tired of missing a docking and traveling through space-stations...

Another thing on my will list is a "land class" object generator. Load map tiles with terrain types coded as pixel values, and output semi-random tree/rock cover... It could be implemented as multiple bases, but that would be messy.

Could be done best in the visualization clients, if you can tolerate no collisions with flora or erratic geology.

also get a workstation like this.

so I was trying to send that on my phone and it wasn't refreshing and I thought it wasn't working.

It has a console/command environment, so you can just type in commands to build the models. Not sure about exporting them, though.

Another wish would be some kind of on-line updatable content. Probably limited to things like DG repaints and scenarios.

Kind of like what OpenTransportTycoon does and it works.

You CAN type the geometry of an Orbiter mesh in notepad. Just calculate the points in your head  !

Well, a package manager as additional tool could also do that. But integrated into the Orbiter Launch Pad would be better for beginners to find additional content, I agree.

I would also want to see a better aerodynamic API in Orbiter and a way to control as add-on developer how the inputs by the user are mapped on the RCS thrusters.

Also, I think that a virtual file system for Orbiter add-ons would simplify many tasks. Currently you have to use the real file system, with lots of checking and additional conditions to consider.

And I want a [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARINC_661"]ARINC 661 MFD[/ame] for Orbiter..... but why am I not making one myself.... :shifty:

1) Relativity

2) Collison detection

3) Friendly error message when you try to land on or scenario edit on to a gas giant, (maybe just have it give you that sun-landing glitch?)

:2cents:

:cough: Black Dart :cough:

I've got some if you need them.

Yes, you very likely have the state that I also backed up on my external HDD less than one year ago. With the 2010-bug in the wheel spin code.

Well, a diet for the Black Dart might be wise as well, it was already approaching bloat at relativistic speeds.
