I know this has been brought up many times but I'm curious as to what this crashlog indicates. Every time I try to load the Moon either in Orbiter with Orulex running or through the World Studio that comes with it, I see some terrain starting to load for a split second, then a crash. These are the last few lines in the log:

Code:
11/30/2009-5:16:58 PM:[getheihmap]:Error: File "Heightmaps\moon-lv12-1038-301-3-3.hei" not found or not loadable.
11/30/2009-5:16:58 PM:[getheihmap]:Error: File "Heightmaps\moon-lv12-1038-301-3-3.hei" not found or not loadable.
11/30/2009-5:16:58 PM:[getheihmap]:Error: File "Heightmaps\moon-lv12-1038-301-3-3.hei" not found or not loadable.
11/30/2009-5:17:00 PM:[intertilex]:Undefined intertilex error, n=159
I'm guessing the first two are irrelevant; I can see the height map and terrain start to load in the split second before it crashes in the Studio, so the last line seems to be the real kicker here. I've tried manually deleting all Orulex-related files and reinstalling, but with no luck. And personally I'd rather not have to try a complete clean reinstall. o_o

What version of orbiter?

Ah, of course. 2006P1.

I didn't used to have the problem, but I can't pinpoint when exactly it started. I don't really see how it could have to do with another mod I installed, since it happens even in the World Studio...I thought it may be caused by one of the lunar bases I added, but removing all base files from the Moon folder (temporarily) didn't have an effect.

The filename is "Heightmaps\moon-lv12-1038"

Which suggests level-12 which I don't think 2006P1 can handle. Try downloading the correct heightmap from Artlavs site.

I'm pretty darn sure it's the defaults from his site I'm using. Guess I'll try downloading and installing the Moon one again in case it got corrupted or some such. Thing is, though, I didn't re-add any of his height maps when I tried a reinstall of Orulex; the "Heightmaps" folder in the Orbiter base folder is empty, yet even so, the Moon is the only thing it has trouble with...

Just checked and mine is called "moon-lv9.hei"

No luck re-downloading and installing the heightmap file...I'm thinking it has nothing to do with the heightmap errors; upon further review of the log file it also complains about lvl 11 and 13 heightmaps for Earth, but I have no troubles with loading it. The last error is probably the key here.

Also, in the spirit of troubleshooting, I decided I'd try Orulex 1.0 (I was previously using 1.2). The problem persists, however, the way it's represented in the error log in the older version gives a clue. In 1.2, the error comes back as,

"11/30/2009-6:49:45 PM:[intertilex]:Undefined intertilex error, n=159"

In 1.0, it comes back with,

"11/30/2009-6:45:19 PM:[defgetc ]:Undefined color error"

Same symptoms, same problem, different log entry.

Code:
11/30/2009-5:17:00 PM:[intertilex]:Undefined intertilex error, n=159
Try removing the Lv10 (or 9) Moon Textures, as the error comes from the place that parse them.

It's one of the local heightmap and textures files, Orulex can handle whatever resolution supplied, regardless of what Orbiter can do.
"moon-lv9.hei" is a global heightmap file, limited to lv 9, despite Orbiter could having better.
Also, Lv's are arbitrary there - the resolution is specified in the file itself, so Lv5.hei can easily be 32768x16354.

Thanks so much, Artlav. The textures I was using were indeed the problem. I tried a different set of Lvl9 moon textures I had in storage and it's loading fine now.

I had also an problem with a moon hight map. Also orbiter started and then crashed. It was a lack of the graphic card. Could that also have caused the problem for you?

Is it incompatible with my textures of Moon, or is this just too less memory for textures problem?

I ran it only with OGLA client version of Orulex, and it worked fine.
