I just learned about this system by accident.
The Ouya appears to be everything I would put into a game console. The Ouya runs on Android 4.0, has nVidia GPU and quad-core ARM CPU, and will release at $99 (according to wiki). It will be rootable without voiding your warranty and easily opened for hardware mods. It will include wifi and be able to play OnLive games, something I've been expecting in new devices. Every console will have development capabilities without purchasing a license, and every game will have some type of free-to-play.

Almost 9 million dollars off kickstarter?
That sounds like a record, or close to it.

Interesting idea, let's see what would come out of it.

I applaud the open nature of the OUYA, but the controller looks like it would be very unergonomical to use. (Pic: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4h89aybr...igh Res#f:300ppi_controller in context_HR.jpg ) Also, I think the lack of RAM (just 1 GB, no words on expansion capability) and relatively low processing power (1.4-1.7GHz combined CPU/GPU quad core) could hamper the console. (tech specs: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4h89aybr17k6f7s/D9lUTARs_A/Docs/Technical Specifications.pdf ) However I suspect the ease with which the console is supposedly be able to be hacked could see it see Rasberry Pi like attraction.

I wouldn't consider that controller to be the final version. That's already different from the first shown. Wouldn't be surprised to see further reshaping of the case. I do hope they ditch the god-awful xbox analog stick layout though.

With USB and the OS, I would expect several independently-developed controllers.
As for the performance specs, we'll see what happens. But at least it's far cheaper than a comparable tablet.
