This is a project to make a fully 3D ship inside and out. This thing won't be just a small shuttlecraft or capsule either, though a small surface to orbit vehicle will probably be needed as well.

I was thinking something along the lines of a permanent space vehicle that resembles a long boom, with a 2 or 3 story crew section, then at the center of rotation a collection of cargo, communication gear, and fuel tanks (fuel tanks at the center so it doesn't change the weight and balance of the ship and thus alter the center of rotation) , then at the rear the nuclear power plant & rocket nozzles.

Sort of like this (which seems to have engines at the center for some reason, and are square?)

Along with that small torus wheel station, and a 2 stage to orbit launch vehicle (probably air launched from a jet, ala X-15 or Space Ship 1).

I had planned to do the insides of my battleship USS Minnesota first, but decided to do a smaller civilian ship first.

No, I won't make this compatible with other people's add-ons. I don't much care for add-ons that require add-ons, that probably also require their own add-ons. That irritates me actually.

Other than an ISP of 900 for a Nuclear rocket engine, not really. I think I can guestimate the other stats myself, but the idea here is mostly that it will be fully modeled inside.

I don't really plan to make the stats super accurate, just accurate enough.

Anybody have some good ideas for a deckplan layout of any kind? I've gone so far as to copy down some floorplans of Winnebago motor homes and such, but I'm open to suggestions.

A design for a 3-store inflatable hab of a rotating spaceship can be found at the Atomic Rocket page:

http://www.projectrho.com/rocket/rocket3f.html

Look for "Habitat Module" in the lower middle of the page.
The referenced NASA report describes this rotating ship in detail.

There is also a page called "Deck Plans" which may provide some ideas.
Happy modelling!
