General Question Pilot present outside the DGIV when on safe mode

Hi people,
I was wondering if there is a way to have the pilot of a DGIV being put in sleep mode present outside the ship like a normal UMMU. It seems to juste disappear after the ship enters the sleeping mode and comes back when I reactivate the ship.

Can we manage to keep the pilot and make him enter an arrow ship or a base?

Simple: open the airlock and transfer him.
Safe mode is mostly for when waiting on the ground for a good time to launch, or waiting at a space station for a good time to transfer. If you're planning on doing anything while waiting, you may as well not use that mode. You can attain the same effect of safe mode sans crew disappearance by opening both airlock doors and switching to external power.

I can't put the ship in sleep mode if there are no crew in it. You are basically saying that no O2 will be taken if I exit the pilot and that I leave the ship with EPU activated? Even If the sleep mode check list is not completed?

If there is no one aboard, no O2 will be consumed, which makes sense
