Apparently the cops thought it might be a firework!

A Continental Express pilot reported seeing a "missile or rocket" flying near his aircraft Friday night over Texas, the Houston Chronicle reported.

...

DeFoor told FOXNews.com he couldn't say whether or not terrorism was suspected or if the plane was targeted. Graduation ceremonies were being held about the same time as the pilot reported seeing the rocket, and it could have been a hobby rocket someone set off.

Anyone on the forum been messing around with bottle rockets? ;)

A few pilots claim to see strange things from time to time, allegedly. Missiles, UFOs and much more. Nothing unusual. Also not unusual that there is often media involved, well, certain media involved. Whenever somebody tells something to FOX News (or the like) allegedly, I immediately stop listening and reading anyway.

Probably a bottle rocket. Good old Fox :)

If this was anyone on the forum, hopefully you're smart enough not to brag about it.

Actually, Fox News is no worse than CNN or CBS/ABC/NBC when it comes to facts. They just choose to sensationalize different stuff. It's their choice that is biased.

Assuming they mean 13000 AGL, that's no firework, and it would have to be a pretty darn big hobby rocket, too.

They shoot stuff to 30000 feet all the time. My guess it was a hobby rocket.

Still a "pretty darn big" hobby rocket. Not something you buy as an Estes kit.

Agreed... most of my rockets don't break 7500 ft!
