Just out of the blue, while on a break from our gruelling tour (our firm goes from school to school with a huge truck that carries telescopes and an inflatable Planetarium dome, teaching Filipino kids about astronomy and spacef exploration), I came up with this...wrote it in 15 minutes LOL. Be gentle, my poetic skills are rusty
From a Dying Spaceman (Who Longs to Return to the Earth)
Oh for the blues and the green of the earth
The place of my birth
Woe for the grey and bleak hues cocooned
Inside the asteroid where I'm marooned
I long for that vast stretch of cyan, the sky
And yearn to gaze at the deep azure of the sea
Entombed in this ship, all that I can bleakly see
Is the beeping alert screen of my dwindling air supply
If one day by chance you happen upon my vessel
Please do take my flesh mortal and carry it gentle
Back into the waiting arms of the mother we call earth
Back into the earthen womb, the place of my birth

(oh, this is best read aloud, with an instrumental version of David Bowie's "Space Oddity" playing softly in the background
