Hi guys;

Recently I've been recording CSM separations from the SIV-B, turn around and docking , and extraction of the LEM from the Saturn upper stage after the TLI burn.

Problem is, whenever I play the episode back, the CSM never separates from the upper stage, and the whole stack tries to turn around during what is supposed to be just the CSM's turning maneuver.

I tried going into the cockpit during playback and throwing the switches again to force the separation, but it just won't listen to me in there, and I can't get the CSM to separate before the turning maneuver.

How do I deal with this problem?

Thanks, Dave

I think that is a limitation of the playback feature, though I rarely use it so I'm not totally sure.

I don't have AMSO or NASSP on this PC (at work), and you didn't say which add-on you were using, but I have a couple ideas.

In many multistage vessels, separation of a stage is often accomplished by changing the mesh of the main vessel, and creating (spawning) a new vessel for the part being jettisoned. Unfortunately, the flight recorder doesn't support the creation or deletion of vessels during a playback. This is why trying to EVA a UMMU doesn't work in the recorder, etc.

If this is not the case (the vessel exists as a separate entity right from the start), then it likely has something to do with the way the vessel supports (or doesn't support) the recorder. Vessel modules are responsible for recording and handling playback of animations and other things - and this may not be handled in some add-ons. The DGIV, for instance, doesn't record things like raising or lowering the gear, opening the nosecone, etc. In fact, the 2D panel is unresponsive to the mouse when in playback (although the glass cockpit works, as do keyboard shortcuts for gear, nosecone, etc).
