Prog Rock Britannia on BBC

Re all above, as a good old fashioned head-banger, Deep Purple et all, and in the wrong places at the wrong time, how about Neil Young?

Probaly shot down in flames....

Keep on rocking

I have just returned from doing a direct comparison of "The Lamb" on original vinyl and latest CD remaster. Top end Linn turntable and kit through Isobarik speakers. I am not sure about a humming but the vinyl version lacks the punch of the new remaster. Loads of detail appears that I never heard on the original. What were they thinking back in 1975? Well worth a listen.

I agree. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is an AWESOME album.

Interesting. Usually vinyl sounds better than CDs. I guess it's the remastering part. It's funny when I talk to younger people who have no idea how a phonograph works. Even funnier when they don't know the origin of the term "to dial a phone number".

I had to do a few hours of driving today, and thanks to this thread put quite a few prog CD's through the car stereo.

Completely agree. I much prefer my old vinyl to CD but in the case of early Genesis and, in some cases early Yes, the original mastering/mix sound quality is bad.
