Quasar is a Super-Heavy class launcher, intended to lift very large payloads in Low Earth Orbit or towards the Moon or planets.

The larger version, the Quasar 452, designed for the launch of the largest and unmanned payloads in Earth or Moon orbit, has a huge LEO payload capacity of 232,900 kg, nearly twice the payload capacity of the Saturn V.
The Quasar 440 is an intermediate version without the upper stage and a maximum LEO payload capacity of 157,500 kg.
The much smaller Quasar 220, which keeps the considerable payload capacity of 92,800 kg, is the exclusive launcher of the Eridanus, the spaceplane of Forum Orbiter Italia (not included in the package).

New features of the version 2.55:
Cosmetic updates: new boosters meshes and some new textures.

The following add-ons are required:
Vinkas Multistage2
Vinkas Spacecraft3 (with Orbiter 2006-P1 patch, included in the package).
Orbiter 2010-P1 requires the stage.dll patch (included in the package).

For the Capo Passero scenarios, is also required the ASVI base - Capo Passero, V2.0, by Orbiter Forum Italia.

Shiny! I hope to be putting the sidemount version to use soon.

Nicely done!

I've been looking for something to launch large tanks to the moon for use as a fuel depot and cargo parts to Mars. I think I just found it.

I tried to attach an Energia Tanker to it. Everything was fine until I pressed J for jetison the tanker then CTD

[PAYLOAD_1]
MeshName="Tankers\Tanker"
Module="Tankers\Tanker"
name="Tanker"
off=(0,-12.775,31.22)
Height=55
Diameter=10
Mass=85000

Can anyone help.

Missing module. Not a Quasar problem.

Thank you.
I've got a Jumbo_Tanker with 205t of fuel total mass 230t to fly.
It launched to 1055k x 250k & separated properly.
I ammended the fuel mass in jumbo_tanker cfg & then entered it as the PAYLOAD 1.
Muy Bien! Now to play with the Autopilot.

I've solved it! :thumbup:

[PAYLOAD_1]
MeshName=Tankers\Tanker
off=(0,-12.775,31.22)
name=Tanker_1
Module=Spacecraft\Tanker
Height=55
Diameter=10

PHP:
;Space tanker. Yuri Kulchitsky

ClassName = Tanker
Module = Tankers\Tanker
ImageBmp = Images\Vessels\Tankers\Tanker.bmp
Help=SpaceTankers,STnk_Tanker

That left me with the Energia Tanker but no fuel.
Anyway a success for now.

I like the the Quasar,but it seems to be missing the smoke effects,and flashiness of the jarvis at take off.so I think I like the jarvis a bit better:thumbup:

Strange. Try to reinstall the Aurora Launch Platform 3.0.

these effects are also present!
jarvis13.jpg

The bigger smoke of the Jarvis H is because the Shuttle SRB boosters; the Quasar boosters are LRB, not SRB (LIQUID boosters), so the smoke production is very low (and the efficiency is higher :thumbup:)

AH! Ok,then still getting the ERROR: Missing texture: piattkenya\soppad.dds
>>> [C:\Source\Orbiter\Texture.cpp / 781] also getting this error with the jarvis,can't find soppad.dds in textures folder.Thanks

I can confirm that the file soppadd.dds is missing from Base_Aurora v3.0\textures\PiattKenya Aurora Base 3.0 folder.

Very nice HLV! I missed that long time, i have 45-150mT launcher (SDLVs), the next was 650mT (Perseus-Launcher), but this closes the hole with 267mT. Thank you very mutch. I will use it for fuel transports for interplanetary ships.

Soon, the Quasar 2.0 with slightly updated meshes and textures, the same visual and audio effects of the Jarvis HLV and Neptune MLV, and a new launch pad!

:thumbup:Best version,hands down,and the new launcher rocks,this is one awesome rocket.Thanks:cheers::tiphat::thumbup::hailprobe:

I may try and use this in place of ENERGY to launch the XR-2 into space. Could this be done? I imagine I would need to somehow drop the last stage and use universal cargo deck to keep the orbiter attached to the orange external tank part of the stack.
