News Race to Mine the Moon Heats Up

One word: Uranus.

Ur... what? :P

Still a considerable dV to lift mass out of the atmosphere to orbit, and to lift mass from orbit into an Earth-bound trajectory.

In addition, mining the atmosphere might not be easy... "suck it out of the air and liquify it" sounds simple, but it is probably easier said than done.

Anyway, if private companies are going to try this out, and the process is done through automation, what's the harm?

The harm is that they'll probably lose money.

111 kg of (pure) gold = $6.133 millions or €4.329 millions.

Current gold price is at 1742 USD per gram, which makes it just over 190 million for 111 kg of gold. Your calculation gives 55 USD per gram.

Somewhat? Most lunar meteorites/rocks are worth 100's of thousands of dollars.

Source?

I also got around 55 USD per gram, where did you get your figure from?

Sorry, bad data. I googled gold price per gram, but it seems it returned it per troy, which is ~31 grams and I didn't notice. Seems N_Molson's figure was correct.
