Alright pipcard, satiate my interest here. What does the number in your signature mean?

Here school starts on September 1st. As do college/university/etc.
It's officially called the Day of Knowledge.

I used to think that was a universal tradition, along with March 8th being International Women's Day.
Turns out it's a bad idea to generalize traditions.

It's counting down to August 31, not September 1.

Oh, it's because you're in Hong Kong.

edit: for the record, it was counting down to Miku's birthday

Here as well, but this year exceptionally on the 2nd. :P
But academic degree schools usually start Oct. 1 (excluding extramural and non-public, which may start earlier or later, depending on the school/university).

Since we had quite many people being proud of inadequate flight planning resulting in extremely low fuel landings in a flight sim:

The crash of a PA-32 near Arnsberg during which 5 people out of 8 died, was caused by lack of fuel, only a few kilometers from the destination airport.

Three surving children (with bad injuries) lost their mother, grandparents, a cousin and a brother in the crash. The pilot was considered experienced (Grandfather of the family), but that can also cause some negligence.

So: Feel lucky that its only a sim, because you can't restart your flight with proper fuel calculations in the real world.

On a lighter note:

The newspaper Spiegel Online will stream the LHComedy: CERN after dark show from 20:00 CEST on in the internet. If you want to see it life, entrance is free, but it takes place at the CERN in Geneva.

One can only speculate that perhaps he was used to only flying with is wife, and calculated fuel usage based on their weight alone without accounting for the other six passengers. Or he didn't look at the gauge, or saw it and thought, meh, that should be enough to get us there. Has always been enough before, etc.

And I can't watch it. :(

Girlfriend decided to visit me, take the last train of the day and tell me that fact after she had departed the station and that I have to pick her up halfway down the distance.

Good bye relaxed evening, hello Autobahn.

It's not very good (yet) anyways. Maybe even a hard choice between that and the Autobahn.

Possible... what I watched was pretty British to me, and likely lost in translation

Best damn game out there for the PS2.

Ace Combat series has the best music in video games.
Have you heard about Ace Combat Infinity? It apparently takes elements of previous Ace Combats (like the Ulysses asteroid or the Aigaion flying aircraft carrier) and puts them in the real world. It's a free-to-play (so I don't know if it'll be good or one of those "pay-to-win" affairs) and a PS3 exclusive (I plan to get a PS2 instead). Hopefully, if it's a good f2p, I want a PC version. I might get a 360 later on just to play AC6 and maybe make some music videos about it.

Also, War Thunder is a pretty good free-to-play that isn't too limited. Sure, there are premium advantages as always, but they aren't too game-breaking.

didn't hear about that. Sounds cool I'll look into it this evening.

IIRC, there was a Ace Combat clone on the PS2 called Rebel Raiders, and it was fairly good. A little heavy on the sci-fi cliche, but good nonetheless.

Also pip, there's this on the PS3: [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatsune_Miku:_Project_DIVA_F"]Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]
