Re-installed orbiter, Shuttle Fleet and STS Expansion and now "ITEM 777" won't launch

Hi all,

I have completely reinstalled orbiter, then installed Shuttle Fleet 4.2.0 and the STS-Expansion Pack 4.2.0 (including all the extras listed in the setup document, in the correct order) and now when I try a Shuttle Fleet scenario I always have the same problem, as described below:

1. The launch pad is hovering slightly above the ground.
2. The "ITEM 777" command in the GMC MFD starts the countdown but only the shuttle main engines ignite, not the solid rocket boosters, and the shuttle remains on the pad.

Any help much appreciated.

[EDIT] I have since discovered that hitting the numpad "+" key ignites the main engines and then the solid rocket boosters and launches the Shuttle under full autopilot guidance, so at least now I can use the autopilot. However the pad is still not sitting correctly on the ground and I don't remember this being a problem last time I installed the expansion pack.

Please provide a link to the version of the Expansion Pack you installed. There are two different ones, one for a basic installation, and one for use with the Med / Hi-res KSC add-ons. I need to know which one you used. Please also provide a copy of your latest Orbiter.log from an attempt to use Item 777 that failed. I need to see what dlls are loading. Finally, did you install Orbiter and the P1 patch, and are you using OrbiterSound V3.0 or V3.5?

Thanks, I need two other things please. One, a picture showing the launch pad problem you described, and two, please disable your joystick and see if an Item 777 will now work.

Thanks,
Dave

Here is the pad with shadows showing where it is not in contact with the ground.

I have tried with no joystick enabled and also with a joystick enabled but it doesn't seem to make much difference.

P.S. - I am now noticing that "ITEM 777" does work now and again, but it is intermittent. I sometimes wait until the OPS1 display shows the launch time is -10 seconds and then do ITEM 777 and it sometimes works, but not always.

Sorry this is sounding so vague but I am convinced it must be to do with the pad not touching the ground properly.

I tried reinstalling the STS-Expansion pack again but am still getting problems.

In my Expansion Pack basic installation I have the same offset from the ground, it's not a problem (and it's always been that way...). Are you trying to go "outside" the cockpit after starting the Item 777 but before T0? Try this; start a launch scenario, use an Item 777, and wait until the vehicle begins to climb before switching to an external view and see if that helps.

Well, I'm not sure what's changed - either playing around with the joystick setting or reinstalling the expansion pack - but I seem to be launching pretty consistently using the ITEM 777 autopilot now.

Thanks for your help, and for confirming that the ground offset of the pad is normal.

Cheers!
