This is a bug report, not a UFO thread...

What on earth is this? It's a red cylinder floating on mid air several 100 metres off the end of the Shuttle Landing Facilty at KSC, all on its own:



(Kev Shanow's F14A is in the background.)

At first, I thought it was a misplaced runway marker, but it's the wrong shape.
 
Hmm. Could you post more images from close-up showing the shape of that...UFO?
 
Analyze or post here your canaveral.cfg file.
What Cape Canaveral addons do you have installed?
 
hahah!! Orbiter is so realistic we have genuine ufos that no one seems to know anything about! How cool! I say they're mini-ramas crewed by micronauts from another universe or sumpin!

Paranormal investigations into the .config files. Now we're gonna have a buncha crazies go off looking for this stuff..:lol:

That's one weird "bug", for sure ! :lol:

As said above check what's in :

- the Canaveral.cfg file (if it's building)
- the .scn file you're currently using (if it's a vessel)

I don't think it's a vessel. If you'll notice in the image posted F9 is turned on and the cylinder is not identified.

I'd dare say it's an artefact from a building mesh or somesuch... Do you have any KSC addons installed?
 
I bet it has to do with the force vectors. Nothing more than a rendering bug.

I've got some high-res surface tiles for Florida installed, but that's it for addons around there.

I'll check again if it's still there...

Looking at the config and scene that you posted, I see nothing out of the ordinary (Im not certain about the config, but I know for sure with the scene) it was probably just a bug with Orbiter rendering something it didn't need to.
 
If it's a part of scenery, it doesn't need to be in Canaveral.cfg, but in a base that is near. Sometimes I add a base with coordinates within KSC to test or add something new to the Cape, but to leave Canaveral.cfg unmodified.
 
I checked the config file against mine, and there doesn't seem to be a difference. I say you have a genuine UFO on your hands...
