I cant download 70.5MB with my connection
not only that
after i had my winXP crashed the beta does not run
i upgrade to SP2 but still it doesn't run
and i am curious about the new beta (if it will run ) and also i missed the hires textures

so if you have the orbiter.exe file of the 090331 version
plz zip it (.rar .zip .7z ) and email it to me.

Most email systems will have limits on the size of the email that can be sent.

70mb is still 70mb.... How will downloading it on email help? What do you do if you get a several people mailing it?!

What you need is someone to split the .exe into parts and host that. To do that will require martins permission. You'd be better of downloading it somewhere else and burning it to a CD.

i want the "orbiter.exe" file only ..just in case it works
its less than 2mb and if u zip it its less than 1mb

He wants just the .exe file (which is 2meg) and not all the other stuff (.dll's etc) that go with it.
I haven't tried, but I have a feeling that it wouldn't work. Because of all the changes something would be bound to break if you don't have all the needed ancillery files.

What the...
Who changed the 'atach' to 'email' !???????
stop changing my posts without notice !
I dont know if that email account still exists..

Likely you, because moderators can't edit your posts without leaving a message.

Also did it ever cross your mind, that you could use a download manager?

Do you read? We already told you that just the Orbiter.exe will not work, you need the full package.

I can assure you that downloading the beta's Orbiter.exe without the matching DLLs will not work: it will either fail to start because the DLLs are missing, or, if you have old versions of the DLLs, it will crash or not work correctly. The thing to remember is that a program's DLLs are every bit as important as its .exe file: they both contain program code and they must be installed as a matched set. To reiterate what others have said, your best bet is to download the full package from an Internet cafe, a library, or a friend's house.

Also, as a matter of policy moderators do not edit users' posts without informing the user about it, either via a note in the post or via a PM. In addition, moderators only edit or move posts that violate forum rules.

As a suggestion, Wouldn't it be a better idea to fix the underlying operating system problems before using BETA software?

Or use better tools? There is no file I can't download with a good download manager...

It could be due to a missing OS dll
i searched the exe itself but i have all the dll's that are mentioned inside the code
I also have problem with the latest Gimp version

I'll get the package through an internet cafe..

Maybe, you will describe the problem, in details?
Or you don't want it solved?

I got it !!! it does NOT run :P

The problem is..
I double click the orbiter.exe and i get a Windows notification , in greek unfortunately , here is my translation:

This application did not started because it's parameter's setting is wrong
Reinstalling this application might solve the problem

[ ok ]

that's all
I had XP home SP2 before the crash ,the beta worked fine ,now i have XP professional SP2 and the beta is not working.

The english version of that error is "The application failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect...".

Means you need the Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...ee-a3f9-4c13-9c99-220b62a191ee&displaylang=en

I tried both the 2008 and then the 2005 versions of this "Visual c++" thing and still i get this error message

If the beta relies on a 'enviroment' like this Visual c++ Package, then martin should be aware of that and note it in the beta's manual.

Note that the 2006 P1 edition runs ok on my PC , never had a problem.

That might due to getting the full package and not just replacing the exe :P

Try getting msvcr80.dll and msvcp80.dll and putting them in the same folder as the beta orbiter.exe .

Also, I'm assuming that you have no addons in the beta folder and that you installed the beta into a new folder (didn't just overwrite an existing 2006 P1 install)?

Does it not even start to the launchpad?
