I have been running 1280x960x32 for some time now. And I haven't updated anything (auto updates are turned off), but yet, even on a new install, every time I select that resolution, it drops to 1280x720. And it seems to want to reset to 8x6 every time I load the launch pad.

System is home-built P4 3.2, 2GB RAM, GeForce 6600/256MB, running XP Pro SP2.

Any thoughts on how I can get it to actually run in 1280x960? It's my desktop resolution, so I know the card and monitor handle it and it shouldn't be changing modes at all.

What do you mean by "8x6"?
Make sure you are not switching devices or have them switched.

Alternatively you can try setting the resolution directly in the Orbiter.cfg like this:
Code:
WindowWidth = 1286
WindowHeight = 745

Short-hand that is fairly common in IT circles -
8x6 is 800x600
10x7 is 1024x768
12x9 is 1280x960
etc....

I'll look at the window size options. They are currently set at 640x480, yet it's definitely larger than that. Weird....

I think that if you tick the "enumerate devices each time orbiter loads" (or whatever the option for that checkbox is) it will re-enumerate them each time you load and dump you back to 6x4 or 8x6. Once you've set it, try unticking it.

This is not true. It will however reset your settings if what is beeing returned by the system is different than the last time. Funky drivers can sometimes cause this. Nvidia drivers, should not.

This whole 8x6 business I never heard over here. And I doubt I could get used to it. We here either use the XGA denomination, say the horizontal part or simply say the whole resolution. Please note my emphasis on say. IMO it irritating and has no advantages to use this 8x6 business in written form on here.
