Hello. i was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. i'm fairly compitent with transx and have used it to go to all over the solar system. if i travel to somewhere like venus or mars (a solid planet) there is no problem as when i have landed, transx resets itself. the problem arises when i go to jupitor or saturn etc (the gas giants). i get there, maybe land on a moon or two, but because (im guessing) i havnt actualy landed on the gas giant itself, transx does not reset and will not allow me to work out a return trajectory. does anybody else get this or its there somthing stupidly obvious ive missed?

ps. Ive tried going to the "inherit new plan screen" and also tried shutting down the whole computer and spacecraft (DGIV) but still to no avail.

wait, that problem rings a bell... I just can't tell which anymore.

I know it didn't have anything to do with gas giants directly... Yeah, right! the flight-plan wasn't selected properly. you want to escape from the moon, but TransX doesn't provide you with an escape plan by itself. turn of auto-plan and select the plan you need manually.

darn, that took a while to get back in my mind!

The reset is only necessary if you want to get the launch parameters, otherwise you just plan a new manoeuvre. However, it should reset itself if you land on any body - doesn't have to be a planet as TransX doesn't distinguish between different bodies. I'll take a look when I get the chance (may not be for a couple of weeks as I'm off to Egypt to go diving next week). jedidia's comments about manually selecting things should work fine.

cheers guys ill give it a go in a day or so, got an exam in 13 hours although i can see my self having a short break on orbiter (short being 4-6 hours lol)
thanks again

exams over now and ive sessioned orbiter again. still cant get it to work although im a bit closer. i can now change my delta V and it shows me ho my orbit will change, but no information is displayed about approx closest approach. any ideas would be greatly apreachiated?

You can always reset TransX by setting both MFDs to not be TransX (ie, select something else, orbit MFD or something). Then quit orbiter and restart. It'll reset it all.
