Question Road trip to KSC

I am debating on driving from Texas to KSC to watch the last shuttle launch. A friend of mine from UK (never meet in person) has saved enough $ to be there also. Anybody else from Orbiter community going? If so where would be a good place to view it from? (as close as I can get) If enough of us are going we should all meet up somewhere. Humm think I might order a Orbiter2010 shirt and wear it with pride. If we all wear a shirt we can all identify each other :thumbup:. Ideas? Advice?

I've been before. I suggest going twice: once for the SLE, launch, and AHoF, and once for everything else.

There are viewing platforms onsite that are the first stop on the tour (which only runs on nonlaunch days). On launch days, all the busses run there AFAIK.

There's a Cracker Barrel nearby; you ought to meet up there.

Sadly, even though I'm near the KSC, I can't make it for either of the last two launches.

I have never seen a Shuttle launch, and have wanted to since I was a little kid.

I was supposed to go for 134 when it was scheduled for the 19th (tomorrow) as it coincided a lull in my school schedule. But now that is off.

I will make it for 135 come hell or high water, but as it is also my first time to Kennedy I would also like to know of the best places to view the launch. Free places if possible. I hear Kennedy charges $75 per person and is non-refundable in the case of delays.

Ummm good point..what if it does launch a day or 2 late? So yeah me too. can one of you local florida people give us a little, lets say,inside info only the locals know?

Titusville is the place,and space view park is the watching spot,it's about 12,or so miles across from the pad which is the closest you can get.If you want to get closer you have to pay $75.00 bucks,or more to be bussed out to NASA causeway,and tickets are hard to get,and it still almost 7 miles away.Have fun:thumbup:

Good luck in your travels! Take some pretty pictures for us.

If I were more independant (or just farther South) I would fly down to see Endeavour off, but such things are expensive and time-consuming. So give her a few extra cheers for me, eh?

You know it. I will get a vid camera from somebody and post a vid on youtube for everybody here in O-F. Still I have to arrange the time off with my job..but I don't see a problem with that as I will be giving enough notice. And if this little trip does become a reality I will without a doubt have to get my Orbiter Shirt and "Represent!" Maybe Ill see some fellow Orbinaughts there!
