A week ago, I encountered the saddest person in Belgium, if not the world.

It was a guy who held up a sign with the words;''The moon-landings are fake. The Americans never went to the moon.''
You might think this is sad but surely not the saddest person in the world. I agree but now I'll give you the location and the time this occurred. It was at a major festival (Rock Werchter, 80.000 people) at 3 a.m. after all the performances were done.

Picture this: everyone is pissed and wants to go to bed but you run into this guy telling lies. If I wasn't as pissed as I was I probably would have fact-slapped him.

I thought the saddest person of the world is still Diego Armando Maradona...

I guess Belgians have it easy as far as their crazy people ;)

Well, that guy should probably see a skilled psychologist

The other day a coworker came into the kitchen I work in and started loudly swearing at me. He called me Hoolio (or something) and brandished a chopping knife. I think I could handle a misguided activist. :tiphat:

Poor guy, kinda feel sorry for him, he must be really desperate for attention. Someone should have pointed him towards a net-cafe and a moon-hoax website where he could talk to similar minded nutjobs. Not a productive way to spend his time, but much better than the situation you described.

luckily for us, now no-one has to see him running around naked...
as he had promised to do should they win

which reminds me to thank germans for that  for good neighbors that we are, it's every brazillian's duty to cheer for whatever team Argentina plays against  - it was hilarious how ppl here celebrated germany's goals as if they were our own

Not sad...just incredibly stupid.

This just proves that the LRO photos of the Apollo landing sites won't convince everyone.

It is not like we have a lack of independent evidence for the moon landings. We have an excess of people who think that they are the reference for technological progress.

You cannot reason with such people as they have no capacity for rational thought. They prefer to dogmatically cling to the one or two bits of information that have some dubious answers and ignore the ludicrous mountain of evidence that destroys their belief.

When you question such a person, they will always demand you answer their questions, but if you ask them a question in return they will either ignore it or skirt around the question to make more demands of you.

It's more or less exactly the same as trying to debate with people who think the world is only 6000 years old.

nah, lets save them for use as shielding on the orion drive

Now, imagine one of those being your relative.

Heh, i believed in moon landing conspiracy for a short while because my older brother (+12 years) reasoned along the lines "Soviets never made it to the moon, americans were always behind the soviets, therefore americans faked the moon landings".
Then, i found Orbiter.

haha! one of my coworkers did too believe in the no-moon-landing hoax...
but we mocked and made fun of him all the way back to coherence:thumbup:

All you need to do to make them sweat is ask them why they think the hoax is real. They are all just brainwashed after reading one 'fact' on the internet which they spew out parrot-fashion; the explanation for which any logical person can find.

But yes, you'd have to have a pretty empty life to find an event, make a sign, get a ticket for said event, and spend a whole night getting nothing but weird looks from passers-by...

Once again, we need Buzz:
