Gaming Shores of Hazeron

I don't get this... I try to join as a new player, I can't find an empire I can join. I try to create an empire, it says I'm not authorized to do that (of course after I went through the whole race creation ordeal, which seems to be very poorly documented). So what am I supposed to do?

EDIT: Well, I tried again, but get "connecting to server" for like 15 minutes. So I try again, and can't create my empire, because an empire with the same name already exists. So I rename it, and I again hang at "connecting to server". When I try again, same situation. What is odd is, that the empire got created, which seems difficult to imagine without connection to the server. What gives?

I decided to give Hazeron a go myself, but I figured out that scene servers are down (tho login and mail servers are up apparently)
:edit:

I'm thinking I should start again with a species that is capable of flight. The question is, is the tradeoff to gain speed an agility worth the massive cost in HP?
Absolutely.

Also remember that the max hp that a player race can have is 50, and it's pretty easy to get close to that even after adding flying.

Also, natural weapons are worthless, don't bother.

So, basically abandon any thoughts about using natural weapons and use the extra points towards something that increases HP?

What about the weapons that do damage-over-time, like disease? I would imagine that they would be more useful? Or, at least it seemed pretty effective when I got hit with it. Although, it does seem like they are generally worthless. If the cooldown delay wasn't so long, or if there was at least a visual indicator, it might not be bad to have in an emergency if you run out of ammo.

The cooldown delay is ridiculous, and that's what makes it worthless. A TL1 rifle with TL1 ammo will also do like 2x the damage of a well-powered natural weapon.

As for running out of ammo...don't? Or resort to punching/kicking/biting, those work too...

Or whack them with the butt of said rifle, it's still better than hands...

There aren't too many other games that let you walk around on the surface of a planet but also fly anywhere in the galaxy.
Ah, i think it's true... I will give it a try... Are servers online now? How often are down?

Server status can be seen by checking the "server status" link at http://hazeron.com/.

Servers seem to be down on average a few hours a week. This last week was more than usual, and they spent a full day down.

I've finally been able to log in, but the movement lag makes it pretty much unplayable. And it's certainly not my system.

Also, I spent a few minutes hacking and slashing on some animal that attacked me while mining stone. Neither of us seemed to take much damage, so I eventually gave up. THe game certainly has a long way to go...

I think part of the problem is apparent distance. I always seem to think I'm closer to something than I really am. Ranged weapons don't seem to suffer from this as much.

Knife: 100 swings, maybe hit 3 times
Ranged: 5 shots, 5 hits

At least it seems like this is how it works in my limited experience.

Movement lag is really a function of two things--network speed (all movement goes via the server) and whether or not someone is in a system on the same server as you designing a massive ship (causes lots of lag).

Offer to hand over the reigns of the Holy Proban Empire in its current location stands. I'm moving elsewhere in game today, and it'll start decaying if no one steps in...

:woohoo: Finally found oil and natural gas! With all the facilities I've built, it's now only a matter of time before I acheive space flight!

I recently tried out this game. I so far have got some roads farms and farm production happening. Made some tools and stuff. I kind of like the game so far.

I decided to try out a helicopter. It doesn't fly like any helicopter I've ever seen. More like Airwolf on turbos than a real helicopter.

While flying, I accidentally pressed 'E' instead of 'C' for roll (not used to roll commands on the bottom) and ended up bailing out at high altitude and velocity. I fell for a short while until coming down to about tree top level where it appears I was eaten by Godzilla  before actually hitting anything.

Yeah, helicopters don't really have a separate control scheme, so they're kind of strange.

Also, they can go into space.

...space helicopters? Any chance they're bulletproof too?

I'm still baffled by the whole "eaten by godzilla" part though. I can't seem to come up with an explanation for that.

Yeah, I'm stumped too.
