Hello all...

I'm considering a minor change to the shuttle fleet and I'd like a couple of testers to see if the change is worthwhile. Specifically, when flying rendezvous and docking with the ISS I find it annoying that I have to mentally shift frames of reference for the translational thrusters. In the real world the aft THC controls can be re-configured using the -Z sense switch. The change I've made is that when looking out the ODS view the translational thrusters are re-assigned such that if I want the "view" to move up or down, the translational thrusters move the shuttle in that direction (which is actually moving backwards or forwards) and so on.

Anyway, I'd like a couple of folks that are familar with docking in the shuttle to try this new config out and tell me whether or not they think it's worth releasing (with updated tutorials, etc.).

One item of note, the rotational thruster assignments are NOT changed by shifting the view point as the various autopilots and their control laws are expecting certain behavours.

If you're interested, PM me with an Email address and I'll send you the modified shuttle.dll for testing. I'm only looking for a few folks, so if you're interested, reply quickly.

Thanks in advance...
Dave

Make that two that support the proposed system. :)

I have used it in the XR5 and it really does help.

It made docking the shuttle much better! A lot less guesswork and more enjoyable.
