I am having a problem with launching the space shuttle using the autopilot. When the simulator gets to the point in the launch where the shuttle flips over, the shuttle does not stop and keeps rolling. The only difference I can think of with the shuttle in this scenario and in the default scenarios that come with the add-on is that I am using Universal Cargo Deck. Can anyone confirm or deny that the Cargo Deck is the cause of this problem? Thanks.

I know that UCD doesn't perform well with vehicles that shift their center of gravity but I don't think that would have an impact on the AP. Could you post the scenario that you are using?

Also, the AP is working in the default Fleet scenarios, correct?

Yes, I tried it in the default scenarios and the AP worked just fine.

The scenario I am using is one I made up myself. I just recently started a project to construct my own space station, and this is the second mission.

Did you use UCD on your first mission? If so, did that AP flight work properly? Sorry, but UCD is not an add-on that I have used with the fleet, and support for it is not assured.

---------- Post added at 20:36 ---------- Previous post was at 20:35 ----------

Is there any reason why you haven't used the fleet attachment capabilities? You can fly several different payloads in a fleet vehicle.

---------- Post added at 20:44 ---------- Previous post was at 20:36 ----------

I did notice that you are using an attachment point "15" on the shuttle; it doesn't have 15 attachment points. Only 7.

Code:
[B]ATTACHED 0:15,SSC-2[/B]

Still haven't tested it with UCD but I would have to agree with Dave, the built-in attachments are very easy to use once you get the hang of them. They are discussed in the manual but I can help you figure them out. They are what I use for my station building project started a couple of years ago. Check it out if you want:

http://www.orbiter-forum.com/blog.php?u=129

But anyway, double check that scenario with your first one to make sure everything is the same. (if the first one worked fine)

The AP did work fine on the scenario without the UCD.

I was actually completely unaware that I could add more than one payload without the use of another add-on like UCD. I can probably figure out how to use the fleet attachments pretty easily.

I also didn't realize I had set the UCD for attachment point "15". Nothing visually seemed unusual in the scenario with the UCD or the payloads with that as the attachment point.

Thank you everyone for all the help. The problem of the failed launch has been fixed, but if I continue have trouble with the payloads on the shuttle fleet, I'll come back here.

Especially if you read the manual that came with the fleet.

I'm trying out the attachments for the shuttle fleet now. I was able to attach objects to both the "0" and "3" attachment points, but for some reason when I would attach something to the "2" attachment point, the object would not be attached to the shuttle but rather off in space.

EDIT: Nevermind, I realized why. It's because the Ultra OBSS was already attached to that point.

Seriously, if you are using Shuttle Fleet V4.3, please read the manual beginning on page 22. I went to great effort to document using the attachment points; it should answer most if not all possible questions.

Thanks,
Dave

I tested it and I can recreate this problem when using UCD and the launch auto-pilot at the same time. This doesn't matter since we have the attachment points but if someone runs into the same problem, here's your answer ;)

This may be a unrelated issue...but also in the past if "limited fuel" in orbiter launchpad was unchecked the shuttle would launch then roll but would do a kind of "tail drag" on ascent untill it eventualy crashed back to earth

Under Orbiter 2006, it is very possible to launch a shuttle with unlimited fuel. It won't work very well, but it is possible.
