Now available at Orbithangar, Shuttle Fleet version 4.5. This corrects the missing OMS exhaust from the beta released previously and includes UMMU support as previously requested. Please read the update manual included with the package. I have also included some beta versions of updated ISS fleet vehicles prior to their release. NASA Aircraft V4.5 is in final testing and should be released soon.

Available here:

Nice update  any plans to add UMMU to the Aircraft fleet?

No. Doesn't make sense to me. And the Aircraft fleet is almost ready for release.

Ok  and is there any chance of you adding the ability to EVA from a landed Soyuz? would be pretty nice to be able to return UMMUs from space, unless that feature is already there and I just missed it

Jesus, I just took a week's vacation working on this release. No, I have no plans to EVA from a landed Soyuz.

Fine, Wouldn't actually be that hard of a feature to implement though, and if you don't want comments on your addon, don't release it, it's not really that hard

David. This is stunning. I,m so glad you did this for 2010. Orbiter woudn,t be the same without it. By the way, did you realise you have the 2006 Earth config here in the download. Many thanks for the hard work.

Would it not be better and more polite to simply say "Thank-you" rather than complaining about features that you think should be added?

Wonderful! Thanks David! Downloading right now.

No problem, although your's aren't really comments on my add-on, they're requests for additional features and updates to other add-ons. I just would like a little break and some constructive comments on this release before folks start asking for more features to this and other add-ons.

Just one question, does the main engine sound still cut out after SRB sep? If not, then THANK YOU!

Sorry, but it does. This (as has been explained several times by me before) is based upon my experience in the actual motion-based shuttle simulator in Houston at JSC.

Sorry about that, I thought I had tested everything at least twice! I'll update the package and re-release shortly, here is the correct Earth.cfg attached to this message. Good catch, thanks!

The proper Earth.cfg file has now been added to the package and updated at OH.

From inside the crew compartment, as soon as the SRB's separate, they can't hear the shuttle's main engines. I've read a few books and the astronauts say that as soon as they separate, all they can hear is the air conditioning and feel the acceleration.

Words cannot accurately describe just how awesome Shuttle Fleet is, thanks for all the hard work!

That's great, and I certainly appreciate the realism, but I wish it was optional to have the sound. The sound of the main engines is one of the things I enjoy most about an ascent. (of any vessel.)

Thanks so much for this, great job! You don't know how much I appreciate having AutoFCS since I completely such at reentry and landing! :) (AutoFCS still does work, I hope? )

I just noticed something but I suspect it's a problem with the ISS fleet rather than the Shuttle Fleet. I had been using IIS Fleet 3.1.2 with the beta of Shuttle Fleet 4.5 and it worked just fine. With the full release, however, the payloads (such as the Destiny lab or the MPLM) are enormous. In the launch scneario they are so big that they completely obscure the shuttle, the pad and the launch tower! I can post a screen shot if necessary. I did see something in the manual about a change to the way that payloads are attached and I suspect that might be the cause - the IIS scenarions just have to be updated.

I stand corrected; this is a major bug that needs to be addressed. The Discovery launch scenario with the MPLM that is included can cause this problem. The good news is that I saw this with another add-on I was updating yesterday, it is related to updating a model to UMMU capability and I can fix this. The bad news is that I released it before I found it...thanks, an update will be uploaded within the hour...

Updated shuttle.dll to fix attachment problems

Took me a little longer than I anticipated, but here is a corrected Shuttle.dll that should remove the "gigantic" payloads bug. This is somehow related to the coding in the SetClassCaps section. For you coders out there, if you update your vehicles to UMMu, make sure you define the first attachment (attachment "0") in your model BEFORE you add the UMMu code. Not sure what is going on, but it makes a difference.

I'll be uploading a complete new Shuttle Fleet V4.5 package shortly, but if you have already downloaded the package, you just need to over-write the Shuttle.dll in the Modules directory with this file rather than download the whole package again.

Sorry for the troubles...

Dave
