A skin I made for my fictional air/spaceline, Skygate Spacelines. It's simple but nice looking. Enjoy!

(obviously requires the XR2 and its prerequisites)

You should probably retitle this, because naming it XR2 Ravenstar is kinda misleading.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean, but I renamed it Skygate Spacelines XR2 Skin. Hopefully that helps!

What he means is that by naming it xr-2 ravenstar, it looks like you are releasing the xr-2 ravenstar, not a skin for said addon...

A default XR2 skin with a blue triangle and a line of text painted on it. No offense intended, but do you really think this is something worth releasing?

Everybody has to start somewhere. Perhaps we should have a beginner section for add-ons, where they can specifically get critiqued on "beginner" grounds.

I did a few things here and there. But have not uploaded them anywhere because I felt they aren't up-to-snuff. That and copyright - An Apple Computer Co. and iTunes skin. I also did a bunch more classic airline liveries.

IDK..

Everybody has to start somewhere, sure. But that doesn't mean we should hang children's finger paints next to Mona Lisa.

Exactly. Beginners are usually not all that good compared to experienced people and that goes in all fields. It's usually not a good idea to release your first addons, especially if you know they're not good.

The only exception is if you're putting your work up for review after you've hit the limits of your current abilities and are requesting help in learning more. But this skin does not fall into that category - most of the work isn't even original! It's as close to re-uploading the repaint kit as one can get.

Why such hell continues to be raised over what add-ons are 'worthy' to be released does this community absolutely no good, and can only fan the flames which are burning quite well enough as is.

Why this topic keeps getting brought up is quite baffling to me.

There is something to be said for when someone new stumbles into this place with green horns and wide eyes and dreams that they can one day contribute with an add-on of their own.

I don't see a single person here worthy of the power to determine which add-on should be made public, and which should remain private. This forum is not such a place in nature that is something which must be protected. This or any other add-on is in no danger of soiling the 'good' name of the forum or the community, let alone the standing of other add-ons which have come before.

I have seen some great add-ons which proved incredibly useful to me be utterly ignored by the community at large, while inferior models I find lacking in quality and inspiration be bathed in what I would call unwarranted praise, is all well in line with that to each his own and there is no ultimate arbiter, no rubric which can be applied to determine what is 'worthy' of these sacred halls, and which would be better off tossed into the dust bin.

Should an add-on be in good standing with regards to copyright, and other restrictions on the use of other people's work, then it has as much a right to be in the hangar as anything else.

I'll be reworking this skin in the next few days... should be more paint, less decal placement. :P
