Project SNC | Dream Chaser

That already looks a lot better. But the dream chaser docking port is still a whole lot too small. Currently the outer ring around the docking port ist approximately the size of the Arthemis Themis PMA Docking Port.

Either i remove the outer ring / make it smaller, or i just scale everything up.

Edit: If i scale it up so it has a wing span of 8 meters and length of 10 meters it fits nearly perfectly. I am not sure if though if that is the best solution. Are most other Addons scaled mostly realistic to their real life counter parts?

It seems like many are pretty close. The things I've made (99.9% are unreleased because they're not worthy) are as close as I can get them.

After messing around with the stuff I've got, it seems the PMA on the ISS is pretty close to being true to scale. Without further info on the Dreamchaser, maybe they had an additional collar or something to allow it to mate?

Ahhh amazing thank you so much  i already feared i have to remodel the complete Back.
Only question now does this docking Port already exists in orbiter?

I don't think so dude. Looks like it's all one you (no pressure or anything).

But that is good news, neither of us was crazy, it really wouldn't fit. So an adapter for an adapter, hmm.

Currently working on some interior props.

The problem is that the amount of texture files gets a little bit big.
So far i have:
###Exterior###
-4k Diffuse (i might be able to reduce that to 2k later without too much loss)
-4k Normal (Might reduce to 2k)
-4k Specular (is it possible to use the alpha of the Normal or Diffuse for the Specular map ?)

###Props####
2k Diffuse
2k Normal
2k Specular
~2k refl-map~ (still experimenting with it, the results varie to be honest. So i might toss that one out again)
###Interior###
2k Diffuse
2k Normal
2k Specular

Thats no problem itself if only the Dream Chaser is onscreen, but i am not sure what happens when multiple vessel are onscreen simultaneously.

Hello All. I know this is an old thread, but I have a question about the realism of the Dream Chaser Add on. I believe I am talking about the right one:

[ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=5834"]http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=5834[/ame]

So, I have this Dream Chaser Add on, and I was designing some ways to use it for a potential air-and-space futuristic fighter jet. I found that when I take off, the sky is truly the limit with the engines. I was surprised to find how fast the chaser went with the amount of fuel it used. It was super efficient, and I had enough fuel to fly around KSC ten times, get into a low orbit, reverse thrust, re-enter, and fly back into space. Wow, is that really the amount of fuel this thing has? I had nearly a third left to spare! If this is true, a machine like this could be a deadly weapon, able to take off from a country, re-enter, pinpoint strike an object, and return to orbit as if nothing ever happened! (Maybe I'm just fantasizing. :hailprobe:) If not, the fuel level would have to be changed.

You'd have to check with liber, but I to think the fuel efficiency of his 'Chaser is a bit too DeltaGliderish.

As for this one here, the docking collar is going to be solved here soon. SpaceX will be hauling up IDA-1 sometime this year I think. There is a youtube video of two guys talking about it, with IDA-2 nearby that they are using as a prop.

You may have been using the "Dream Chaser LR," which is supposed to be like a Delta-glider with a magical/unrealistic efficiency. According to BurnTimeMFD, the engines have an exhaust velocity of 75000 m/s (specific impulse of 7648 s).

The regular Dream Chaser that comes with that add-on has an exhaust velocity of 3099 m/s (specific impulse of 316 s). I'm not sure if SNC's hybrid rockets were going to achieve that efficiency.

It would be great to see the detail with dream chaser as with Shuttle Fleet but these winged addons really need an auto pilot like Shuttle fleet's AFS to land with

Heyho :tiphat: ,

I uploaded the model files so they don't just rot away. They are left in a pretty wip state and some things like texture paths might need to be fixed. Also the texture files are pretty much uncompressed so they are off course quite large. I didn't work on this project for quite some time, but would love in the future to have a second go at it. But i probably would redo it from ground up. The current model just has too many areas where i worked wasteful and not really structured. Also i would like to avoid using tools as photoshop next time.

Thank you for not letting the files waste! I was worried that you might have decided not to finish the project last year when they decided not to go ahead and fund DreamChaser for crewed flights (although it's going to be a resupply vehicle now).
