I was using Space Engine today and I visited Mars, Moon & Earth and what stood out was the planets had correct terrain, but still does not look as good as Orbiter Beta. I was thinking someone could create a vessel that behaves similar to the default controls in Space Engine, so the vessel could follow planets, go very quickly to other planets to look around just like Space Engine. Orbiter could then be compared to Celestia & Space Engine if it has similar functionality. One thing I would like with Orbiter Beta is away to easily look at a planets terrain & move around quickly because the scenery is very nice to look at with the planets that have full beta textures I think people would be very impressed when they compared it to Space Engine.

So that is my idea for another Orbiter addon but would need to be made for the beta version if it is to be better than Space Engine.

Well sure you can't really do it using camera controls and/or scenario editor. For example you can't zoom out from Mars and then zoom in at Earth. I am saying it would be nice to be able to have the same functionality as SE.

Camera controls and selecting target Earth instead of target Mars?

Yes you can select a planet to look at but you can't change the angle of the view, you just get a top view. With SE you can go right to the surface and then move through the terrain.

You mean like the Ground Observer view of Orbiter?

I know what you mean, like a kind of god-mode ship that actually flies around, like a Google Earth camera-ship. There's the fixed ground camera mode [:ninja:'ed!], which is pretty good, but it's obviously way too slow for interplanetary stuff.
