Is there any chance that Dansteph or someone could add to the DG-IV's or any ship with a Radio dish a way to listen to the emissions of the planets like Jupiter, Saturn, or Neptune. I would be Very Grateful. Is anything like that in the works or even possible? Ive been on Youtube Listening to the Voyager and Cassini Sounds and was thinking how cool it would be to flip a switch and be able to listen to Jupiter while you are in transit.

well, you could make a fake "add-on" yourself by getting the sound files and adding them to your mp3 list. Then you could just switch your mp3 "radio" on and listen to the planets sound file while you are in transit

for added effect, you could point the dgiv's long range dish so that it tracks the planet for a visual aspect

Yeah that's one thing but that takes away from the wanted Realism lol

Not to mention I don't have the money to buy Quicktime and thats the only way to save alot of that stuff Nasa.gov uses quicktime

HELP!!! Looking for MP3s or Wavs of Space!!

I've been searching for a few hours now and the only Downloadable files Ive found require Quicktime pro and I dont have the money to upgrade to Pro Does anyone know of any sites that Have Archived sound files from the VLA, Aracebo(?), or any of the Radio Telescopes? I would be Very greatful If you could let me know. Thanks

I don't know if this works in other browsers, but there's a cool trick in Firefox that allows you to download Quicktime videos. Simply right click on the page with the quicktime, and select 'view page info' from the menu. This will ope up a new window with page properties. Go to the tab entitled 'Media'. This lists all of the videos or pictures on the page. Find the movie you want to save, and select 'Save As' Thats all there is too it!

RealPlayer will allow you to download YouTube videos and I think QuickTime vids as well. It's a free program and has a plugin for FireFox.

what kind of realism are you going for? some kind of MFD that lets you control the antenna and plays the mp3 automatically by what planet you are near or tracking? you could have it play only in cockpit as though you were converting the radiowaves with some on board device. Once it's playing though, I honestly don't really see the difference,

This might suit a school size project, or if you are into home electronics a diy project:

http://radiojove.gsfc.nasa.gov/

Has some sample sounds in .avi format too.

By coincidence there was a "listen to Jupiter" project in recent UK electonics mag, I'll see if I can remember which one.
