Bet you a million bucks that despite several reminders from ground control he left the chips in the camera............

To re-cap, at the Mission Status Briefing today it was reported that the memory cards are being transferred inside the Soyuz descent module to Moscow, and the photos would be available in the week.

From ISS On-Orbit Status Report for 25/05/2011.

I especially like the two last pics:

One where Kondratiev is welcomed by his Commander:

wait, they don't have ANY digital stuff? not ANY smal digital-photo they could send us?

Well, they ARE digital on the memory cards, but the transport method is uhhmmmmmm... "analog"

According to reports, when the descent module drogue chute was deployed, the capsule started to spin & tumble, causing Cady Coleman to hit her head on a piece of hardware inside the descent module when the main chute opened.

Also, according to this article, Paolo Nespoli suffered from a vestibular system disorder post-landing.

Strange, I thought that a helmet was supposed to protect a Cosmonaut's head from hitting into anything.

Ok, now that we had the photos, read "The story behind Paolo’s Space Station photos":

“Like a photographer who has a gorgeous model in front of him, I was more concentrated on getting a good technical and artistic product than admiring it.

“I saw the view when changing from still to video images, but I purposely limited looking because I know I would have been mesmerised by the beauty of it.”

“Dreams are possible. We all should keep dreaming since even the most impossible dream sometimes can become a reality.”

Awesome video about NASA's recovery operations for Soyuz TMA-20 (actually all soyuz landings but TMA-20 is followed in this video)

Are those helicopter Mi-17 ?

It's interesting how they use the runway to take off like an airplane... I guess it saves fuel ?

I'd like to have a "Soyuz recovery pack" for Orbiter. :hmm:
