On the actual Space Shuttle are the instruments in metric units? It seems that they are in the Orbiter simulator.
Thank you,
mike

I would believe as it is made in America it would be Imperial becuase ive heard read-outs during landing they call it out in feet, but thats coming from the HUD that is if the pilot isnt looking at his HUD ;)

I believe Shuttle Fleet and SSU give you imperial values.
If you are interested realistic shuttle operations, you really should switch to one of those.

I recommend SSU only if you have prior shuttle experience in Orbiter.

Are you complaining that the built-in MFDs (surface, orbit, etc) are still in metric?

Those are always in metric, and don't change for any vessels...

I tried Shuttle Fleet but is is still metric

Which is interesting because if you extend the air data probes you'll get an additional scale of feet imposed onto the HUD.

Shuttle instruments/HUD is in FEET. Why? Because this is how the pilots are trained in the US.

Orbiter units are in metric. Why? Because that's how it is.

Not just "because that's how it is". The reason why is explained in the FAQ.

From the FAQ:

All internal calculations performed by Orbiter are done in metric units (metre, second, kilogram, Joule, Pascal, etc.), for the simple reason that this is the only system I am familiar and comfortable with, and it is widely used by the scientific community.

In other words, That's how it is!

This is another option -> [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=369"]FlightInstMFD for Imperial air travel units[/ame]
