Space Shuttle Ultra 1.25 Revision B development

payload bay lights !!!

Now that I have gotten lights to work in a Lua script, anyone have any good parameters for the lights?

When do you want the next release to be? If we're going to include the lights, we'll have to wait for the next Orbiter version/patch.

One thing I want to do before the next release is update the AtlantisSubsystem and SubsystemDirector classes to be derived from the template versions of these classes (and rename SubsystemDirector to AtlantisSubsystemDirector). It might also be a good idea to delete the discsignals files in the Space Shuttle Ultra folder, since these are also in libUltra.

Yes, should be that way.

Changed the AtlantisSubsystem and AtlantisSubsystemDirector classes to use the template base classes.

Urwumpe: How do you plan to handle the various transporters used in the assembly process? Similar to the C/T?

Yes, maybe even better...AFAIR the C/T doesn't support getting remote controlled by a scenario Lua script, I could add that pretty quickly to make a car become remote controlled. The ships could for example be send on standard routes.

Well, remote control doesn't really fit the C/T as it isn't moved unless there's a reason for it.

Yes, but scripted motion could make sense if you want to roll out without having to pilot the C/T. Or you do other activities. Or just imagine you want to leave the VAB and while you do the preparations in the VAB, the C/T already rolls below the MLP.

Such things make really more sense for the many smaller vehicles in KSC area, but still, it is not bad to also have it for the C/T. Getting the ET from the barge into the stack might require a few vehicles having to be coordinated.

Actually, just two: the standard tow vehicle and the ET Assy trailer. Towing of the orbiter is what requires a few vehicles: tow vehicle, purge vehicle, coolant vehicle and the orbiter.

Just to let you know: I'm about done with the KSC facilities, and have now moved on to the transporters.

The first one to be made is German(designed and manufactured by KAMAG) and has been in use at KSC since 1978 to move SRM segments around. There are two of these at KSC designated SRM 1 and SRM 2.

KAMAG also designed and manufactured the new Payload Canister transporters which replaced the old ones in 2000.

Current state of the SRM transporter:

Is it exclusively used for SRMs?
Yes. The Payload Canister transporters are similar in design but longer and wider to accommodate the Payload Canister while also having a clean air purge system for the Canister.

Ok...but hey, I could still make them use the same DLL, if they are just different versions of the same vehicle. The attachment system would be likely the same for both.

The SRM segment transporter is now done. The brackets on top is for securing the SRM segment pallets to the transporter.

Can you also do two cab VCs for them? I would say if we can't find a picture, any generic truck cab or a similar KAMAG cab would be good. I just finish some Safeguard stuff and then I can look at the trucks.

Unfortunately the KAMAG website rather shy with photos and there's not many cab photos to found by doing an Google Image search. It's the same when it comes to the Cometto OTS.

The generic pallet is now also done. The aft segment uses a modified version to attach to the aft skirt posts.

Yeah... I search in German for some information, maybe I am more lucky with it...

this is the best I have found so far:

I know from documentaries that such propulsion units as KAMAG uses as chassis, can control each wheel pair individually and permit crab walk or tight turns.
