Space Shuttle Ultra 1.25 Revision B development

EDIT: Maybe we should encourage "Mesh documentation" by the graphical wizards, so we instruction pushers have a document with the official reference coordinates for every mesh and desired animation.
The Orbiter exterior, ET and SRB I can do but not the VC as I can't get it load in AC3D.

Would be enough for the start, especially since you did a rework of the Orbiter lately. It would simplify updating the animations a lot then.

Well, that's not happening anytime soon as Donamy won't have time work on the "contracted out" elements for a while.

Good news on the VC though: I have managed to get it imported into GMAX so, just tell me the switches you want the numbers for and I'll post them.

Well, we coders can sure take a while to catch up with the graphics.

Just those coordinates will be fine, I'll get the values for SetMouseRegion myself.

Thanks, I will do this now. Probably commit changes still today.

I used this numbers and the switches didn't move correctly (they vanished), but looking at the coordinates of the switches already there I noticed the last 2 components in this ones were switched and that they should be all positive -> so I changed them and now the switches move correctly, except for the little detail that they hinge in the middle not on the bottom.
Any sugestions?

Try these:

Panel R2:
LO2 PRPLT DUMP: 1.0107, 14.5611, 1.8482
LH2 PRPLT DUMP: 1.0475, 14.5595, 1.859

They all work now except the He I/C Left (moves too much) and the LH2 Ullage (hinges in the middle)

Try this for the LH2 ULLAGE: 1.0483, 14.1252, 1.7946.
And I'm not sure what's up with the He I/C Left switch. It has the pivot point at the same location as the other two.

The LH2 Ullage works now (looks a tiny bit buried compared with the others, but it's fine). The He I/C Left still moves WAY too much.... checked the numbers and they all look fine, don't know else what to do.... will setup the disc ports now and then we'll see what happens.

I just wanted to let you know that the CRTMFD sources doesn't build anymore. This is the error:

Code:
CRT.cpp(521): error C2039: 'GetSSMEPress' : is not a member of 'Atlantis'

Just commited the "fix", please try again.

They build fine now, thanks.

A quick question: Where is the font for the MEDS displays set? I'm talking about the APU/HYD and MPS/OMS displays. I'm trying to enhance the look of the displays to more resemble the real ones:

MEDS_OMS_MPS.jpg

I think the font was defined in CRTMFD... not sure where and how.

Does somebody have more information about the newer "Modular Memory Unit", that replaced the "Mass Memory Unit" in the Space Shuttle? I just noticed the tiny detail in the SCOM, the old magnetic tape drive had been replaced silently by a solid state memory unit.

(Which would make it easier to publish the STS software one day, if it was not written on special historic magnetic tapes, that are hard to read without vintage hardware and people who are able to repair the hardware - see the problems that the "Lunar Orbiter Digitization Project" had)

I did try Arial once, but it looked too small, but I didn't spend a lot of time investigating what is possible to do regarding fonts (size and aspect ratio). It looks a bit crowded as it is, but it it's not that bad. Feel free to try: you can use this from orbiter SelectDefaultFont(), or create a "new" font altogether with CreateFont().

Another thing I just noticed: both on that image and on another that I have, the SSME Pc meters have the same height as the OMS Pc meters, and I initially had it that way. But when I was working on the APU display I saw that on the SCOM, the bottom of it was aligned with the Eng Manif meters... and so I changed it...:facepalm:Will upload a fix later today.

Speaking of differances, the MPS PRPLT Dump switches on R2 have different labels to the drawings on SCOM. I found a picture from STS-125 (I think) and it looks like the SCOM. Where did "our" labels come from?

And continuing with the panels: I'm basically finished on the R2, the only problem is the Left He I/C switch moving too much. On C3 I managed to get the covers moving fine, but looking at meshes_vc.h I think there is no animation on the push buttons... is it supposed to be that way? :sos:

Possibly from an older revision of the SCOM. We also had some differences because of the MEDS initially.

I have one from 1998 (doesn't mention MEDS) and another from 2009 (with MEDS) and they both have the same R2 layout.

I have no SCOM here to compare, what is different, BTW?

We have L02 dump and LH2 dump and SCOM has Dump and LH2 backup vlv.
Also the LH2 Ullage is in a different place and the APU auto S/D is different.
