Vinka dropped this yesterday on the francophone's Pappy's Hangar. Thought I'd notify you guys.

New features are, among others:
  • UMmu & UCGO implementation
  • OrbiterSound 4 support
  • LUA scripting interface

Spacecraft 4 is of course backwards compatible, and now can define more animations.

:tiphat: to Vinka for this!

Holy. Crap.

It's the second coming of Vinka. :hailprobe:

Bet no one was expecting this.

ok, that came out of nowhere...

I know, I wasn't really expecting that when I checked the forums too... And I didn't know why there was no news of it here either. And to be honest, before posting the news here, I verified it wasn't a joke

This is amazing.

Good news for the addon dev community.

What??? If it would be 1st of april... thankfully it is not.

Does this mean more work for Fred18 on Multistage?

N.

N.

I think I'd better contact him to understand if he wants to develop another multistage as well. It does not make any sense to compete against each other

Indeed. I'm happy the need for genericvessel also vanished completely with this. Lesson learned: don't work for the community, let the community work for you  .

Hooray! Vinka returns triumphantly! 2016 is going to be a good year.

Now I will wake up everyday in the hope that Orbiter 2016 is released ;).

Thanks Vinka! I'd sure hope that Fred and Vinka share their knowledge to create a single awesome package.

Any news on its compatibility with Orbiter Beta?

Not fully. SC4 suffers the same payload jettison bug as SC3, at least on the latest beta.
EDIT: Also, if you switch to cockpit view (F1) in e.g. STS RMS scenario, the beta crashes.

But now that Vinka is back, I'm sure he will regularly update his work for his large user base, so nobody gets stuck 5 years with a legacy closed-source framework again ;) .
Besides, he notes that every developer can ask him for the source code. fred18, there's your chance to get involved!

Let's hope so.

Let's hope so.

Well, if not, there is only one thing I can say to people that again hopped onto a closed-source framework for their work: fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. But it sure will be different now, right? ;)
