SpaceX Targets 8:30 p.m. Rollout
Sun, 07 Oct 2012 07:04:57 AM GMT+0800

Waiting for the current line of clouds to clear over the Florida launch site, SpaceX is targeting 8:30 p.m. EDT for the rollout of the Dragon spacecraft and Falcon 9 rocket for Sunday's launch. Launch remains scheduled for 8:35 p.m. EDT.

The fact that SpaceX has already launched a successful cargo demonstration mission to the space station does not mean the California-based company is taking its upcoming flight for granted, said Gwynne Shotwell, president of SpaceX.

Speaking during a pre-launch press conference at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, Shotwell said the upcoming mission will be flown by a Dragon spacecraft and Falcon 9 rocket combination that is nearly identical to the ones that flew in May.

"Every time we fly we learn something," Shotwell said. "We're a launch company, I'm excited every time we get to launch."

5 minutes between rollout, fueling, last minute cargo loading, preparation works, status polling and launch? That's game-changing technology! Must be The Elon who made that happen, so all :hail: The Elon!

Seriously NASA meant 8:30 am....

*just rolled out my Delta Glider in 5 minutes and being ready for launch from the SLF*
So, that's not possible?:(

NASA should use a 24-hour-system like anyone, besides they could abolish that nautical miles too...

United States... :P

NASA should use a 24-hour-system like anyone,

Deviding the day in 12 hours a.m. and 12 hours p.m. actually makes sense, in aviation.

besides they could abolish that nautical miles too...

It's much more easy to understand than many people think. A nautical mile is nothing more than one minute on the equator, or on any other great circle (40,000 Km devided by 360° = 111.11 Km, devided by 60 minutes = 1,852 m = 1 nm).

:)

My best wishes to NASA & SpaceX for tonight's launch. Sadly I won't be able to watch it live, too late regarding all the stuff I have to do tomorrow.

I'll have it for breakfeast ;)

Anyway, :hailprobe:

Here's hoping all the best for a successful first operational cargo flight of Dragon to the ISS.:)

The Spaceflight Now stream shifted to the VAB interior for a couple seconds. Strange...

Sun setting over the Cape. I can tell you there is nothing more beautiful than seeing a sunrise/set over a fueled rocket while sitting out on the pier.
