This guy made these games with Visual Basic 6.

When I played them, I finally could live the experience of flying a fighter in the Battle of Endor, or to be Luke Skywalker in the first strike
against Death Star. I expected some crappy game, but as I started to play I was drooling. The action is magnificent and his work is just great.

It amazed me, as its gameplay is better than any Star Wars game I had played.

ENHANCEMENTS FOR THE GAME

Also, it seems there is a Tron mod.

Lucasarts hasn't released any X-Wing series of games in quite a while, but those were great. The original X-Wing allowed you to fly the 'trench-run' at the battle of Yavin IV, and X-Wing Alliance (the last of the series if I recall) allowed you to fly the millenium falcon into the heart of the DS2 and escape before the flame-ball caught you up on your way out. Truly excellent.

I liked these games and couldn't stop giggling when I played them; I felt like I was a kid again. The graphics are functional and get the job done.

The one downside of the games is that they are very "2-D", i.e. the sensation you get is that you're driving a car rather than flying as everyone (including yourself) can really only maneuver in one plane. This is most obvious in Battle of Yavin when you're attacking the radar installations on the surface of the Death Star; everyone is basically just "driving" around on the surface without any crazy perpendicular dives towards its surface.

X-Wing Alliance was an awesome game, the story missions went on FOREVER.

I agree on the original X-wing, and I also loved it's sequel, TIE Fighter, with the secret society of Imperial fighter pilots and the best 3D space map display ever. The sound effects of the movie TIE Fighters were awesome in the game, really got the whole experience.
