Please, please lose the chat speak! This is a respectable forum and not a chat-room so chat-speak is kinda frowned upon and not really tolerated. So this can make people not take you seriously.

Worse than that. You're almost GUARENTEED to get flamed to death for the use of chat-speak. ;)
(not trying to scare you, astro, just be careful)
Happy flying!

Good evening, Sir, and thank you for your prompt reply to my previous communique. I apollogise a thousand fold for my prior lapse in acceptable typing. I hope this has not effected your opinion of me. I will hence forth type with the skill of thirty-five secretaries who have been recently rigged up to an IV of diluted methamphetamine.

Ok, now that's taking it a little too far. As long as you get your spelling and grammar correct you should be fine.

A few words of advice:
-Read the manual. As boring as it may sound, it's crucial when you're using something this complex
-Search the forum before posting. If you have a problem then someone has probably had it before

Another thing, I would recommend setting your country. When I saw the question mark where the flag should have been I immediately thought we had ourselves another spammer. Other members may have made this association too.

Finally, welcome to the community, and happy orbiting!

Edit: And another thing; it's a simulator, not a game

"I wasn't at my sharpest. I hadn't considered that there could be more than one like him. But if there was one, there were thousands-maybe millions or billions. I felt my stomach twist.

'What are they up to?' I asked.

'Haven't you guessed? They're moving in on us.'

'You mean they're going to kill us off and take over Earth?'

She hesitated. 'It might not be anything that nice.'

'Uh... make slaves of us?'

'You're getting warmer. Kip-I think they eat meat...' "

Sorry, couldn't help it, you just might be one of them.

 I didn't even notice that in his post earlier. Yeah, a torrent version of Orbiter probably isn't a good idea. Could be an old version, and could be full of buggy addons.

Yeah, No need to torrent a free game. Plus, aren't torrents illegal piracy? My friend had the feds come after him once for torrenting, he only got a stern warning, but who in the world wants the feds after them anyway. But advice for the newcomer. Read the manual. I'm an air force pilot working in test flights and even now, I need to read the manual. And stick to it. Orbiter is not a game, and you can't expect to fly to the moon just like that. It takes time and practice, just like the real thing!

No, torrents are an effective means to share and distribute files via P2P. The e-fense Helix forensics disk image and some Linux and BSD distros are distributed through torrents, which have the advantage of not hogging up the bandwidth like conventional downloads do and to support resume at any time. To distribute large files, torrents are quite useful. Do not fall into the entertainment industry PR trap that screams "illegal!" everytime we're talking about an aspect of the Net they do not control.

Thats a bit like saying that blank DVD's are illegal piracy, It depends on what you choose to torrent. They're a great way of distributing non profit applications because at times of heavy load the peer to peer architecture spreads that load over all users so no huge server costs are incurred.

Of course if someone has put Orbiter up as a torrent then I'd hope that they have asked Martins for permission first... I'm not sure what his stand on redistribution is.

True, but mabey I've been misinterpreted. I've seen torrents for cd's or games that would neeed tobe paid for for free. I sn't that piracy, or am I wrong? Anyhow, I don't torrent so I guess it doesn't matter.:)

Quite right, hackers used torrent to download 'cracks' and keygens for games/programs, but that's not a torrents main purpose. It is exactly like Ghostrider said. They are meant for mass distribution of a file while limiting server load.

Certain Linux DVD versions are only available on torrents. This allows the download to spread over several servers rather than hammering one server constantly. Torrents, like keygens and other tools can be used for good and bad.

Hehe, I seriously agree with you two, I do some chats-speak, but I don't do it too often. Also, you two should add this to your signitures:

lolz no thx ur sig pwns tho XD

Also Orbiter is not a game. It is a SIMULATOR! I know it is a stickler but like chat speak, calling this a game is a bit unintelligent. But on the brighter side welcome to the Orbiter Forum, and welcome to Orbiter!

Way to necro a thread made by someone who was exposed as a troll in his other thread.

He is not welcome on this forum.

It's fun to feed the nonexistant troll.
I love threads that no longer have a purpose. :)
