How can ships such as the Delta Glider or the XR2 just taxi onto the runway without using thrusters?

I won't speak for how others taxi their vessels, but I typically give the ship a bit of a kick with the main engines, coast a bit, kick a bit more, coast a bit more, etc. I only bother finding a low throttle setting that will keep my speed reasonable if I have a distance to go.

In short, I'm not sure you can do what you're describing without the scenario editor. :)

Deltaglider taxis fine with RCS off. "1" for nose wheel left and "3" for nose wheel right. You will need main thrust to add forward speed, "control" key held then a bit of "+" to adjust the thrust up a bit. You can touch brakes or reduce thrust (control key held then "-") to limit the speed while taxi.

A UCGO pushback cart would be pretty cool.
Am I right?

Something like:

That would be Badass.

If you mean that you're having trouble turning on the ground, you can try [ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4012"]NoseWheelTurn[/ame] to help with that.

Heilor has written this... [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4012"]NoseWheelTurn[/ame]
It's pretty awesome, and really helps when you want to taxi around in a XR-5 or DGEX.
But, yeah, burp the main engines to get moving and RCS to steer.

Ninja'd... :ninja: at least it was by Heilor himself eh?

Heck yea! Maybe even something capable of push back and towing long distances to the runway.

Yes, nose wheel steering is important, otherwise, taxi speeds would be unrealistically high. Taxiing XR5 at 100mph, below which there is little steering. Scary. But hey, we are in space simulator, not FSX, non?

For a lightly laden DG or XR you can also do an air taxi, that is, hover slowly :D

There's also this [ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=1335"]Shuttle tow vehicle[/ame] , but it's very old and uses Spacecraft2. I remember someone using this with a tiny URMS attached to tow their XR2...
